10 Thoughts College Kids Have in a Grocery Store

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Gettysburg chapter.

Food, glorious food! For college students, sometimes food is a good as gold, which is why you’re almost guaranteed to catch our attention with the promise of free food. But as new adults, we’re expected to provide food for ourselves (you know, besides the meal plans that our parents most likely pay for). That’s a lot of responsibility for us. We have to keep our inner child in check.

Here are 10 thoughts that may go through your mind the first time (or every time) you take yourself to the food store in college:

1. Real food! I haven’t had vegetables and cheese and fruit in my fridge in so long!

2. Junk food! I LOVE THESE BROWNIES. And these pretzels. And that cookie dough. And every flavor of those chips.

3. I need to stock up for my finals hibernation.

4. I can justify buying food. Food is a necessity.

5. If I buy these goldfish do I really need those doritos? Yes. Yes I do.

6.  I’ll totally share all this with my friends (maybe).

7.  This will definitely last me more than a week (maybe).

8. I may need a bigger shopping cart.

9. (At the register) I can’t afford all this…

10.  How do I carry it all back to my dorm?

English Education major at Gettysburg College. My friends hate me for correcting their grammar, but I know they secretly appreciate it.
