Recently, when asked about his former bandmates in an interview with US Weekly, Zayn Malik made a comment about his friendship with One Direction pal, Harry Styles, that was pretty much the equivalent of the “new phone, who dis?” meme, and I think it’s safe to say a lot of our reactions looked a lot like this:

While talking about whether or not he still communicates with the other boys, Zayn said “To be honest, I never really spoke to Harry even when I was in the band. So I didn’t really expect that much of a relationship with him when I left.”. As someone who has been a dedicated fan of the band for the past several years, I know that whatever may have happened since Zayn left, he and Harry had a close bond leading up to that point; that knowledge doesn’t make the comment hurt any less though. So let’s take a few moments to appreciate some of the things Harry and Zayn have done together (all while not talking of course), and, who knows, maybe one of these could even jog Zayn’s memory a bit.
1. Harry and Zayn may not have been very talkative, but that never stopped them from dancing with each other.

2. Singing together doesn’t actually count as talking, right?

3. Pinching an acquaintance’s chin while staring at them fondly could actually be an effective (and silent) form of communication.

9. I admit that not much is happening between them here, but they look so good sitting next to each other- and, more importantly, look at those cheekbones and that smolder. If anything, Harry is too busy admiring the literal art that is Zayn Malik to be able to speak to him.
