Meet our woman crush for the week: LoQuasha! She is a freshman here at Southern who is majoring in fashion and design. LoQuasha is also very active on campus. She is currently involved in DIME’s Fashion, Christian Campus Fellowship, Association of Latin American Students, and she is also a resident advisor for Southern Courtyard. Although she is involved in quite a few organizations, fashion is, definitely, LoQuasha’s passion. She’s been drawing sketches of dresses and outfits since she was a little girl and has been working on perfecting her art ever since. She is working on her sewing skills and has actually made a jumpsuit romper for a California trip she took a little while back.

She hopes to launch her very own clothing line that will be catering to the young, stylish millennials. She plans to make designs for all sizes to cover a wide range of customers. This dream of hers has been molded by America’s Next Top Model, Project Runway, That’s So Raven and Cheetah Girls.

She’s always been fascinated with how you can make an outfit. In pre-school, she started sketching as a hobby. When she got into sewing classes in high school, that’s when she started to take it more seriously and really plan to make it big in the world of design. She hopes to receive an internship opportunity by her junior/senior year of college so that she can have an opportunity to network and learn even more about her skill. After that, she hopes to get her own fashion line started and be sailing smoothly. She also plans to be very influential to other upcoming fashion designers as well.

The thing that stuck out the most to me about LoQuasha is the fact that she plans to give back to the community and charities when she gets her business off to good start. She wants to help better education so that the younger generations can have better opportunities. You don’t hear that as often from people our age so that’s very refreshing. It’s easy to tell that she has a legitimate passion for fashion and to impact her community. I wish the best for her and hope to see her business flourishing soon.
