Rihanna Takes Her Rightful Place as Co-Host of 2018’s Biggest Fashion Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Vogue just announced that everyone’s favorite red carpet walker Rihanna (omg) will co-host the 2018 Met Gala in May. She will be hosting alongside the one and only Donatella Versace and Amal Clooney (she’s a lawyer married to George Clooney).

Wow, I need an invite.

If you don’t know too much about the origins of the Met Gala, also known as the Met Ball, I can help you out. The Gala is an annual fundraising event for Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. This event is known as one of the most exclusive events in A-lister land, AND it’s for a great cause. Each year’s Met Gala has a unique theme and next year’s will be “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Now, this could be a complete disaster or…………. Interesting.

To celebrate my excitement here’s a few of my favorite Met Gala looks:

Carmen Kass in 2003, Goddess: The Classical Mode.

Lucy Liu in 2007, Poiret: King of Fashion.

Ashley Olsen in 2009, The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion.

Beyonce in 2011, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.

Jennifer Lopez in 2011, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.

Karolina Kurkova in 2012, Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.

Rihanna in 2015, China: Through the Looking Glass.

Zoe Kravitz & Miley Cyrus in 2015, China: Through the Looking Glass.

Kendall Jenner in 2016, Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.

Beyonce in 2016, Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.

Gigi and Zayn in 2016, Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.

Zendaya in 2016, Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.

Rihanna in 2017, Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.

Cara Delevingne in 2017, Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between.

Current senior at the Georgia Southern University. I love music (mostly 90's), and I love movies (mostly horror). In my spare time, I like to pretend I know how to dance or I'll watch post production videos on youtube :)
