Natural Hair Care Products Haul for November

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Keeping your hair moisturized should be one of your top priorities. In order to strengthen our hair and see growth, it is important to practice efficient moisturizing methods because dry hair will not grow and is more prone to breaking off. It can be challenging, however, to do so when you have no idea what products to use. Since being natural, I realized that I jump from product to product to see what works for me, what I like and dislike, and this has been tiresome. With colder weather approaching, slowly but surely, I knew I would have to kick it up a notch to fight with the harsh, cold weather. If you did not know, natural hair is drier than normal during winter: bad news for naturalists. I noticed that my product inventory was extremely low and there was no way my hair would stand this cold weather coming my way. So, here’s a few of my recent pick-ups that I decided to give a try.

Ogx Frosted Sugar Cookie Shampoo & Conditioner

I have been a fan of Ogx’s hair products for quite some time being that they cater to all hair types and make products dedicated specifically towards natural hair. I was so intrigued that when I saw this I had to do a double take. Frosted sugar cookie, you say? This shampoo and conditioner smells amazing and I cannot wait to coat my hair strands in it. Unfortunately, this scent is a part of their Holiday Collection, meaning it will go off shelves once the holiday season is over.

Keratin Protein Deep Conditioner

I have been negligent of my hair and I knew it was past due for a deep conditioning treatment. This is a protein based deep conditioner and kudos for it being free of sulfates, parabens and drying alcohol. It also claims it “softens and prevents breakage in weak, damaged hair” – why does this conditioner have a description of my hair on it? Consider me dragged. I bought two of the sampling packages for $1 each.

Jamaican Black Castor Oil

Jamaican black castor oil can be used on all hair types. It is moisturizing, strengthening and aids in hair growth. It can also work wonders for a dry, itchy scalp. If you have not included this in your hair routine, I would recommend you give it a try.

Ogx Moroccan Curling Perfection Defining Cream

This is a mouthful, but I figured my hair would thank me for this. It claims to feature argan oil and will define curls while also limiting frizz and fly-a-ways.

Ogx Kukui Oil

I have heard great things about this product and was excited to have stumbled across it. It has oil derived from the kukui nut, will leave your hair hydrated and glossy and it has an amazingly, pleasing smell. What’s not to love?
