Meet Our #WCW: Ton-Ja Troutman

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

This week we are introducing to you another Woman Crush Wednesday, Ton-Ja Troutman.

Troutman is from Orlando, Florida and is a Junior Criminal Justice major here at Georgia Southern. On campus, she is involved with the Justice Studies Club but intends to become a bit more active by joining more organizations in the near future.

Career wise, Troutman has hopes of joining the FBI or the juvenile system to positively influence and work with at-risk kids.

Troutman took her passions and created her very own organization, God’s Empowered Melanin (GEM). Troutman started GEM August of last year as a safe haven for young African American women. Since then, the organization has grown to become a mentorship program where young African American girls can be guided by peer mentors. Troutman is currently looking for African American college women who are just as passionate as she is to help mentor more girls around the Statesboro area.

Outside of her philanthropic work, Troutman likes to have fun just as much as the next person. She enjoys hanging out with friends, watching TV and reading. Another cool thing about Troutman is she has a way with words and writes poetry in her spare time.
