Marriage, babies and families, OH MY

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Am I the only one who has looked down their Facebook timeline and was like, “Dang, she’s pregnant too?” or “Congratulations on the engagement!!” or my personal favorite, “Oh such a beautiful family.”

It seems like not too long ago, we were in high school not worried about anyone else but ourselves. Our time was spent hanging with friends, high school drama and not a care in the world about what tomorrow would bring.

I think reality hit right after high school when everyone realized that spending 8 hours a day in the same building was no longer a requirement and real life is the norm.

That’s when you realize that this isn’t high school anymore. Of course, you knew that by now. It’s just the reality of seeing all your high school peers become spouses and new mommies and daddies is throwing you off completely.

You are still on the level of how to live the college scene and everyone else is on diaper duty.

Although this feels completely weird, the way the world works. Times are changing and we just have to roll with the punches. Who knew that a couple of years from graduating high school, anyone would be in the position that they are at the moment. I’m pretty sure everyone had a full thought out plan on how they wanted their life to turn out

What everyone has to understand is the things that comes into your life are there for many reasons. Life happens, it’s there to add value to your life. It will make you a better person.  Then we have to think about timing as well and where people are in life to enter that new stage, whether it’s being a new parent, a new spouse or just still focusing on the life you have. The situations that you are placed in are for you because you are able to handle it.

That timeline that you see is full of new beginnings and new challenges in that person’s life and although it’s crazy to think that’s what’s going on right now, it is. Just take it all in and accept it.
