Since I’ve accomplished my spring cleaning goals, I’ve been feeling really at peace in my home. Honestly, nothing excites me more than coming home to a fresh smelling clean home, lighting a candle, and just enjoying the atmosphere. Although it’s been nice having the surface of my little quaint space clean, I’ve been thinking on some things I could do to really change the aura and the feel of it. The first thing that came to mind was feng shui. Now I’ll be honest, I really didn’t have a clue about what feng shui was except that people would move furniture around in their home, but this inspired me to do a little research.

It turns out feng shui is a deeper concept than what I initially thought. It’s ancient Chinese art of living that is complex in both its meaning and applicability. The main ideology behind feng shui is that if applied correctly, it can improve basically every area of your life. The principal is that arranging your home into an equal and harmonious space with a free-flow environment can enhance relationships, wealth , health or any other area you may be struggling in. The ancient art of feng shui can take years to master but since I’m obviously no expert, I looked into some basic ways to to start.

1.) Declutter

One of the best ways to begin any kind of transformation in your life is to get rid of stuff! Old stuff, broken stuff, stuff that no longer serves a purpose … just get rid of the stuff. One of the worst things you can do when trying to attract prosperity into your life is to live in a space of clutter. Doing a serious clean out will help you begin creating that free-flow environment.

   2.) Move some furniture around

Since feng shui is all about harmony, arranging your furniture around in a way where it seems more balanced is a great way to start. For example, if you one piece of furniture on one side of the room and another right next to it, maybe try moving directly across from the other piece. Another super simple way is adding couch pillows that are balanced. I know it sounds weird, but it really does make the place look and feel more harmonious.

3.) Get some plant babies

Another really great way to get some feng shui aesthetics going on in your place is by adding some plants. Have you ever had one of those days where you’ve been cooped in the house all day and the most exciting thing you did that say was go check mailbox? I mean that trip to the mailbox was just so freeing and refreshing and just for that little moment you felt like you could breathe a little better. Well, its because being exposed to living this such as plants has been proven to improve your mood. Having plants in your home can also help you attract that new kind of energy you’ve been wanting in your life. Having new life growing in your apartment will provide a sense of hope and cheer into your space.
