Georgia Southern’s Black Student Alliance held one of the biggest events this past Saturday! Their Masquerade Gala was a definite success despite the slight interruption. The Gala was held in the Russell Union which set the mood for an intimate evening of awards, socializing, an awesome speaker and dancing.
The night began with the welcome and a heartfelt poem given by Ms.Kristian Montgomery. Following was an awesome perform by Dyverzion Dance Team. Their dance theme was the progression of African American dance. We were then served a delicious catered meal while being serenaded by the lovely Jasmine Pollard who sang Still I Rise. Soon after, Attorney Robbin Shipp gave a powerful speech. Shipp urged us to have aspirations while where are youthful and to go after these aspirations wholeheartedly. Desert was served while awards were presented to Mr. Christopher Pugh, Dr. Saba Jallow, the Minority Advisement Program, Ms. Jasmine Smith and Mr. Solomon Crawford.
There was a slight interruption during the awards presentation where we all had to leave the building for a few minutes. Luckily we were able to return inside for the duration of the program. Kudos to BSA for not missing a beat! The Masquerade Gala went on without a hitch. We ended the night with dancing and photo ops. What a great event!
