The Best Summer Jobs for College Students

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

All college students love money, however, some of us can’t get it unless we are working. A lot of companies do not like to hire college students because of the temporary job placement. However, there are some jobs that like to hire college students and here is a listen to what I think are some of the best places to be employed over the summer.

  1. Lifeguard – Being a lifeguard is a hard job, yet it is fun at the same time. For the most part, depending on the area of your employment, you usually will not have to jump in the water too often to save a life. Being a lifeguard is one of the best ways to remain tanned all summer and feel like a hero. What better way to show off the beach body you have been working on all winter long?
  2.
  3. Bartender – Are you twenty-one or older, if so this is the job for you. The best part about being a bartender is the social part. Bartenders make the greatest friendship from their customers. Plus, you get to learn how to mix your favorite drinks and even discover some new ones. This is literally one of the best ways to impress your friends is to make them new drinks.
  4.
  5. Camp Counselor – Do you love children? How about you try being a camp guidance counselor. Usually, a camp counselor jobs are the greatest because you only work Monday through Friday and get your weekends to yourself. Plus, you get to go on all the great field trips with the campers and have a non-traditional job.
  6.
  7. Amusement Parks – Sure the summers are extremely hot but, so is this job. This is one of the best jobs to have in the summer. Amusement parks like, Six Flags, often pay a pretty decent hourly wage.

Summer jobs are often temporary but they pay for the time being so why not go job hunting.

I am often referred to as "not your average girl", I love to shop, hang out with my friends, and get my nails done, however I can play NBA2k on PlayStation all day as well. I thoroughly enjoy weekends at home watching Netflix and relaxing. I am a formal personal blogger with hopes of sharing my personal thoughts with the entire HerCampus community. "A lot of people resist transition and therefore never allow themselves to enjoy who they are. Embrace the change, no matter what it is; once you do, you can learn about the new world you're in and take advantage of it." - Nikki Giovanni
