Everybody loves a good space movie with vibrant colors and early 80’s music. That’s exactly what the two Guardians of the Galaxy movies are about.
Chris Pratt has always been a pleasantly funny guy, ever since his Parks and Rec days but now it was ten times more interesting to see him in a more edgy and hot light than the dumb cute light. Not to mention he was cute and his humanity was totally heartwarming.
And right off the bat, we meet the other Guardians, in one action-packed fight that seems juvenile but is also really captivating. Along with the awesome soundtrack, the continued visuals and witty one-liners seemed to rope me in at every turn. And I was especially loving the friendship evolving between the crew. It was like Avengers but with more space and less serious.
And who could forget the awesomeness of the dance battle, the iconic scene almost too good to be true. But alas, it was and our heroes band together as lovable idiots to defend the galaxy. And of course, another Infinity Stone is seen in its final resting place before Thanos comes to steal it.
And just like the first film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 gives us another space 80’s type movie but with more action and this time Kurt Russell. The whole ”daddy issues” trope is supremely relevant in this movie, but when has it not motivated a major Marvel character in the past (I’m talking to you Tony Stark)?
While this movie is not quite as good as the first film, it’s just as funny and just as easily lovable. It found ways to surprise me and make me laugh more than I thought possible. And Mantis was one of my new faves.
Guardians 2 was still fun, heart warming, sad yet also happy, and delivered a pretty good show. 12/10 recommend!
