4 DIY Turmeric Face Masks for Glowing Spring Skin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgia Southern chapter.

Turmeric is a bright, golden-yellow spice that is derived from the turmeric plant. It’s commonly used in Asian based meals whether it’s added to rice, tossed with roasted vegetables and greens, or mixed in with soups and curry.  It has a warm, bitter taste and is frequently used to flavor or color powders, mustards, butters, and cheeses. But the root of turmeric’s power comes from it’s yellow-colored chemical called curcumin, which is widely used as medicinal treatment for arthritis, headaches, fevers, and recoveries from surgeries and cancer radiation (WebMD, 2019).

However, unconventionally, it is also very successful for smooth and clear, face and body skin treatment. From acne, dark marks, and dry spots, turmeric powder mixtures helps to reduce redness, blemishes and is a natural antiseptic preventing the spread of bacteria that causes scarring, eczema, and other skin conditions.
