Putting on makeup shouldn’t be a hassle. It should be easy and quick but capable of getting the job done. Looking put together is manageable when you have a few tricks up your sleeve to help you along. The following suggestions for your daily beauty routine do the job of making you look natural, fresh and even modeleqsue in the matter of seconds.

If you’re running to class and you only have a few seconds to put on makeup always go for the mascara. A few coats of your favorite mascara and your eyes will look wider, in turn brightening up your whole face. Make sure to do two things when applying:
1.      wiggle the brush back and forth
2.      rotate the wand so each lash is coated with color

Let’s just say you’ve had a long night and when you wake up in the morning you need to look wide-awake, fresh and relaxed (even though you’re not…). Begin by dabbing concealer a shade lighter than your skin tone under your eyes to brighten up those dark circles, line your waterline with flesh toned or white eyeliner, and apply a champagne shadow to the inner corner (tear duct area) of your eyes. This is a quick way to look as if you’ve had a perfect night’s sleep.

Always make sure to remove your makeup every night! While you sleep your skin also “rests” but if it’s covered in powder or bronzer your pores will get clogged up and you know how the rest goes… Wash your face with a cleanser of your choice and follow up with a bit of lotion to keep your skin smooth and refreshed.

We always see models and celebrities perfecting that “healthy glow.” You know the picture where they always seem to literally be radiating good health and beauty off the pages of your favorite magazine? Well making this part of your beauty routine is a lot easier than it seems. All you need is two things: tinted moisturizer and highlighter. These can both be found at a drugstore, Sephora or MAC Cosmetics, etc. Mix two parts of the moisturizer with one part highlighter and apply to your cheekbones, nose, temples, and along the jawbone. In one minute you’ll see an immediate difference!

Smokey eyes always seem hard to master. They either go the raccoon route, the trashy look seen on many a reality show, or the perfect application that seems too hard to master. The trick is to not overdo the smoky colors. Start with a light color on your lids and work the darker tone into your crease with a light hand. Try not to do too shimmery or too matte, mix different finishes and find your perfect combination. When applying shadow under your eyes here’s a quick tip, don’t load it on! Just trace a little eyeliner along the outer half of your lower lash line, smudge with a q-tip and you’re good to go!

After a long day of classes or an intense workout at Yates, your skin may be feeling a little dry or looking a little red. A quick remedy for this? Green tea. Yes, the green tea you drink, but no we won’t be drinking it! (unless you have leftovers!) Steep a teabag of green tea in hot water, leave the bag in the water and set aside until cool. Using a small spray bottle (they have lots of these in drugstores), fill it with your tea and spray a few bursts onto your face. Let it settle and you’ll be sure to feel its soothing effects.

Exfoliate your lips! Yes it sounds crazy, but it makes a huge difference. Pick your favorite lip balm, apply it and using a plain old toothbrush, brush your lips for thirty seconds. After doing this wipe of your lips with a tissue and reapply your lip balm. If you do this one to two times a day your lips will be noticeably softer and less prone to getting chapped. Sometimes you need something more drastic, so try a lip scrub. You can buy one (LUSH Cosmetics has my favorite!) or make it yourself: mix a bit of brown sugar with olive oil and apply to your lips in circular motions. After doing this wash off what’s left over and apply lip balm to seal everything in.
