Merry Christmas… Love Jay Z.  That’s basically the message Jay Z is sending as he announces his plans to collaborate with Barneys on a holiday line set to release this November.  Aside from his prior successes, in the past few months Jay Z, real name Shawn Carter, has released his 13th number one album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, had an epic Legends of the Summer Tour with Justin Timberlake, announced a world tour of his own, Jay Z: Magna Carter World Tour, and now is sharing his genius once again through the fashion industry just in time for the holidays.  And if this isn’t enough to convince you of Mr. Carter’s dominance, he’s married to Beyoncé with the most adorable daughter Blue Ivy…can anyone beat that power couple? Didn’t think so.

Many of you may be putting tickets to the Magna Carter World Tour at the top of your Christmas lists this year, but if a concert ticket is too much to splurge on, or you just need your Carter fix sooner, you can get it starting Nov. 20 through Jan. 3 in many major cities.  This year is going to be a Carter-filled Christmas as Jay Z is teaming up with the department store Barneys on a project including many major fashion labels.  He has collaborated with designers like Balenciaga, Moncler, Lanvin, Rick Owens, and Proenza Schouler to create limited edition, one-of-a-kind pieces to be sold in shop-in-shops in Barneys throughout the holiday season.  This project is called ‘A New York Holiday’ and titled BNY SCC Gallery, standing for Barneys New York Shawn Corey Carter.

If you’re going home to a city for the holidays, even as soon as Thanksgiving, you’re in luck because ‘A New York Holiday’ is coming to Manhattan, Boston, Chicago, Beverly Hills, and San Francisco.  This is a perfect activity to get a head start on the Christmas festivities after Thanksgiving.  The prices are pretty steep, but if you’ve been saving up you might be able to snag an early Christmas present as well.  All of the pieces are New York inspired and follow the color palette of gold, silver, black, and white.  Some exclusive designs include a black leather backpack by Alexander Wang for Balenciaga and a Barney’s cotton t-shirt for those of you who want a memento from Jay Z’s holiday collection but don’t want to spend all of your hard-earned savings at once.   And if you just want to go for the experience, you’ll be in for a treat.  The iconic windows of Barneys New York on Madison Avenue will display an interactive holiday installation created by Jay Z, along with visual artist Joanie Lemercier and Barneys New York Creative Director Dennis Freedman.

It’s hard to argue with the fact that this is the year of the Carters.  Both Mr. and Mrs. Carter are at the top of their games and everyone wants to experience a piece of their creative works.  ‘A New York Holiday’ is an exclusive, groundbreaking project that doesn’t occur often and is sure to provide shoppers with the unique experience they’re looking for.  Yet, if you’re not going to be near any of these cities during the holiday season, www.barneys.com will offer some pieces, as well as a special pre-order for certain items.  And if the idea that Jay Z is even collaborating on a holiday collection with huge designers isn’t reason enough to check it out, 25 percent of the proceeds will be donated to his New York-based charity the Shawn Carter Foundation, a scholarship fund providing help to students suffering difficult socio-economic situations.  The BNY SCC Gallery is guaranteed to be the talk of the holiday season, so if you’re in a participating city make sure to stop by and experience this iconic event.
