Jasmine Jackson COL ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

Here at Georgetown, we always hear about basketball, but usually it’s all about the guys. A lot of times people forget about our amazing women’s team. Making it to the quarterfinals of the Big East conference this year and the second round of the 2012 NCAA tournament they have had a great season as well, as guard Jasmine Jackson would say.

A freshman, Jasmine is originally from Brooklyn, NY – Coney Island but currently resides in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Jasmine began playing basketball in her freshman year of high school and has been playing ball ever since. Although she loves the sport she puts her education first above all else stating, “My education will last forever [but] not basketball, so at the end of the day education comes first for me.”

For now she is undeclared in the college, thinking about majoring in women and gender studies and sociology. Currently she is not involved in any other activities here at Georgetown, focusing more on basketball and school. However, she says once the season comes to a close she will have more time on her hands to “get involved and see all that Georgetown has to offer.”
