Study Breaks: We all need them, we all want them, we all abuse them. But who wouldn’t? When you’re staring down the barrel of Plato’s Gorgias for what you thought would be your easy Intro to Philosophy requirement, sometimes a nice five, 10, heck 30 minutes to veg via mindless internet activity never hurt anybody. At times, we need a few minutes of pure stupidity captured in a Marcel the Shell With Shoes On youtube video to get us through that case study we have stared at for the past 15 minutes but are too scared to start. We all claim to use our study breaks to grab that third espresso shot at Midnight, run to the bathroom for the fifth time or my personal favorite stretch. But let’s be honest, the pure essence of any successful study break is to clear your head, by listening to, reading or watching something that really doesn’t matter but can make you laugh. But if you haven’t, two hilarious people took a shell, found out how to make its mouth move and tweaked their voice to sound like an adorable 5 year old girl – coming from a shell. My favorite tweet of the week comes from a great Twitter account: Shitgirlssay. It was inspired by the hit youtube video “Shit Girls Say” which has spawned countless spin-offs. I don’t know if girls are behind this account or guys but they are SPOT ON (so let’s just hope it is girls or guys know too much).
