#GTownTrending: Georgetown Day!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

The end of the semester is the best and worst time of the year. At Georgetown it means hours and hours holed up in the stacks of Lau and refills and refills of coffee BUT it also means some of the best social events of the year. Nothing can get you through your final problem set or last history paper than the prospect of the most glorious day of the year – GEORGETOWN DAY! It really is almost as wonderful as Christmas (plus you don’t have to have any awkward encounters with odd relatives).

Let’s kick it off with what I think will become a favorite of many of our male prepsters – Chubbies Shorts. Apparently guys get uncomfortable wearing long shorts (who knew?) and have made a stand to let their thighs “breathe.” With slogans like “Pants are for work” and a manifesto that is not as eloquent but is certainly funnier than anything Karl Marx could muster up, the inventors of the world’s shortest male shorts may have something really great cooking. The name is catchy and the pictures on the site are hilarious. Take a peak and maybe you’ll just find next year’s birthday present for your guy, brother or what the heck even your old man:

I have found that you can pretty easily get lost scrolling through the articles on Cracked.com. They are all pretty hilarious and make some valid points. For those of us who are extremely glad that V-Day is long gone, the girl who just went through a break-up or someone who just started seeing someone new but still needs to keep things in perspective, see what Cracked.com says about the 6 most quotes pieces of advice that actually turn out wrong.

The music video is not up yet but when it is, you can rest assured that it will be on re-play on my computer (mainly to catch repeated glimpses of the gorgeous Adam Levine. I would even agree to be that weird white cat that Cee-Lo randomly scratches on The Voice to get closer to Adam). Maroon 5 hooked up with none other than Wiz Khalifa and created a really catchy song. Side note: Speaking of music videos – where is Justin Bieber’s music video for “Boyfriend?!”

I think it would be pretty impossible to have not heard about #whatshouldwecallme by now but if you have not, two female law students and BFFs (who have chosen to remain anonymous) started a blog between one another to keep in touch. On the blog they put short video clips from popular movies and TV shows and add captions that are SO spot on. Hilarity ensures and every girl feels like her feelings are encapsulated by a single image. Recently a new tumblr called #WHENINGEORGETOWN has been created by another anonymous writer (who I really want to meet – please reveal yourself soon!) It is actually hilarious and often times I have to stop myself from laughing out loud too hard.
