While at college, finding time to do your favorite Christmas traditions can be challenging, if not impossible. Â Between finishing up classes, studying for finals, actually taking them, and trying to squeeze in your Christmas shopping, December usually marks your transformation from collegiette to Grinch. Â Though finals take top priority in December, encouraging your inner Christmas spirit is still important. Â Here are five simple ways you can celebrate the holiday session during one of the busiest times of year. Â

Put Up Christmas Lights
One of the fastest ways to decorate your dorm room or apartment is to put up a couple of strands of Christmas lights. Â All you need are the actual Christmas lights and some scotch tape, both of which you can get at CVS. Â They go great around you door, over your bed, or around your desk. Â Even though putting up the lights at home probably takes you family several hours to do, most likely it will not take you more than twenty minutes. Â Once they are up, they will be a constant Christmas spirit reminder. Â Every time you plug them in, they will light up the room with Christmas cheer.

Bake Christmas Cookies
When I was home during the Christmas session, baking cookies was a huge production.  It took several hours, and we made all the dough from scratch; but let’s be serious, in college, we just do not have that kind of time.  So here is a simple solution: buy a roll of sugar cookie dough or the bake and break ones, and some Christmas sprinkles.  They sell Christmas sprinkles at most grocery stores, and if not, you can buy regular red and green sugar.  They take a totally of thirty minutes to make, they are the perfect Christmas treat when studying for finals.

Study to Christmas Music
Although everyone’s method of studying is different, sometimes studying with music can be relaxing and productive at the same time.  You can fill the study air with either your favorite classic Christmas songs, or try some new ones.  My personal favorite this season: Michael Buble’s new Christmas album entitled “Christmas” is perfect.  It has all the classic Christmas songs sung by a man who has the perfect Christmas voice. (See Blog: Hoya Beats: Christmas Music for some great songs!)

Wear a Little Christmas to Class
While it may sound extremely cheesy, wearing a red or green sweater, snowflake earrings, or some other Christmas apparel accessory will brighten those final days of class or those long study nights. Â If you are hesitant about wearing something, just remember most people will find it fun, and it may even brighten their days too.

Send Your Parents or Friends a Christmas Card
You can buy Christmas cards in packs cheaply and mostly likely purchase stamps at your school store.  If you do not actually want to mail cards you can just slip them under your friends’ doors.  You do not have to write long messages.  It is just a simple way to get into the Christmas spirit and spread the joy around!
