We’ve all heard the saying “diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” but let’s be real. No college student can afford a diamond, and there are probably very few who know someone willing to get her one. It’s time to find a new best friend, and I know just who to call. Meet my life long and ultimate galpal, my partner in crime: chocolate.
The following are, in my opinion, the best chocolates ever.
1. Godiva Dark Chocolate Truffles. These are actual little balls of heaven. Bite into the hard, dark chocolate shell and then let the delicious filling just ooze out. I got some on Valentine’s Day last year, and I still fantasize about all of the chocolatey goodness.
2. Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate Squares. These individually wrapped squares come in so many different amazing flavors you’re better off just buying the variety pack so you can try each one.
3. Vosges Dark Chocolate Truffles. Pure creative and delicious genius. Vosges somehow makes even the weirdest combinations (eg. Cheese and beer filled chocolates) into delicacies.
Another thing I love about chocolate is that it comes in so many different forms. Here are some other ways to eat this goodie.
1. Chocolate covered strawberries. Oh.my.gosh. The richness of the chocolate and the tartness of the strawberries mix together to form a party in your mouth. This is may also be my favorite way of fulfilling my daily-recommended fruit serving…
2. Dark chocolate covered almonds. I found these masterpieces at Dean & Deluca one day, and my life has never been the same. These crunchy, salty, and sweet bites make for the perfect snack to crave your sweet tooth.
3. Hot chocolate or chocolate milk. Both of these drinks are a great replacement drink when it’s too late at night to have coffee, and you don’t like tea.
4. Chocolate chips. These little morsels are great on their own and when added to baked goods.
Now, even though I personally believe that only dark chocolate is real chocolate, many have yet to cross over to the dark side and prefer a more subdued taste. If you insist on milk chocolate, choose wisely. Once again, in my opinion, Godiva takes the gold, followed by Valhrona with the silver and Lindt with the bronze.
Furthermore, though I’ll reluctantly admit that milk chocolate can be good, white chocolate never is. In fact, it’s an imposter, so stay away from it. No one likes a fake.
So next time it’s “that time of the month,” you’re celebrating a special event, or you just need a little pick me up (aka every day for me…), get yourself some chocolate. I promise it won’t let you down!
