Best and Worst Dressed: Oscars 2012

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

The best part of the Oscars is always the red carpet!

Best Dressed (Of the Night): Jessica Chastain
This McQueen dress is breathtaking.  The shape of the dress is incredibly flattering, and the gold/ copper hues are extremely complementary.  Although she did not win for Best Supporting Actress, she won Best Dress at the Oscars.

Best Dressed: Ellie Kemper
Even though Ellie Kemper is just a presenter, she dazzles in this copper glitter number.  Her hair practically matches the color of her dress.

Worst Dressed: Emma Stone
Going into the Oscars, there were such high hopes for Emma Stone.  She had rocked the awards season in style, but this dress fell short of anything spectacular.  Emma Stone wins biggest disappointment of the night; the bow was just too much.

Best Dress: Jonah Hill
Our only male best dressed of the night.  Ever since Jonah Hill has slimmed down, he has been amazing us with his great male style.  This tux is such a great fit for him, and the dark purple shirt is a nice spin on the class tuxedo.

Worst Dressed: Glenn Close
This dress could have easily been on the best dressed list or at least not on the worst dress list if it was not for the blazer.  Now, it is understandable because apparently it was cold, but really Glenn Close, you’re in Hollywood, can’t you just act as if it is warm out.

Best Dressed: Octavia Spencer
Octavia rocked the Oscars last night, not only winning for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help, but also with this formfitting sparkle dress.  Octavia has always looked fabulous this awards season, and the Oscars were no exception.

Worst Dressed: Shailene Woodley
This dress is just all wrong for Shailene.  It is much too mature for how young she is, and the length of the sleeves make the dress appear extremely wintry.  It is definitely a miss.

Best Dressed: Judy Greer
Her movie, The Descendents, was nominated for best picture, and this dress is definitely a contender for tonight’s overall best dressed.  This dress is both glamorous and sexy.  Also, this dress is more proof that metallics rocked this year’s red carpet.

Worst Dressed: Missi Pyle
It troubles us to put Missi Pyle on our Worst Dressed, simply because so much of this look is right.  Her hair and make-up are flawless, and the color really goes well with her skin tone.  However, the mermaid style of the dress is just not the style we wanted to see on an actress who was in the Best Picture, The Artist.

Best Dressed: Michelle Williams
Although she did not win Best Actress, this dress was definitely a success.  Although the style of the dress is not a far stretch from her signature look, she still amazes and surprises in her ability to pull off the double tier.
