10 Reasons to Watch Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Georgetown chapter.

I first became a fan of Samantha Bee when she acted as a correspondent on The Daily Show. Bee became the program’s most tenured correspondent, being a part of The Daily Show for nearly twelve years! Now, she has her own show, Full Frontal. As an avid viewer of satirical programs and a woman, I could not be more thrilled with this development. Full Frontal airs on TBS Mondays at 10:30 PM.

1. Samantha Bee is hysterical! Full Frontal is a guaranteed laugh.

2. The show has and will be discussing the 2016 election. The content is relevant and underrepresented. Bee and her team have found footage that may have been overlooked by mainstream networks.

3. No more sitting behind a desk! Samantha Bee has a large TV screen behind her and the ability to walk around the stage.

4. Full Frontal is only thirty minutes once a week. Similar to Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal condenses the most important stories into one episode. If you are short on time (as most college students are) this show is perfect for you.

5. Samantha Bee is the first female fake news anchor. Full Frontal is unlike Saturday Night Live because the female news anchors were only a part of a designated segment of a larger program and there were multiple anchors on air at a time. Full Frontal is Samantha Bee’s show.

6. In a refreshing change, Full Frontal has one of the most diverse writers’ room in regards to gender, race, and ethnicity.

7. The show poked fun at Republicans and Democrats. Full Frontal does not pull any punches.

8. Similar to The Daily Show, Bee comments on pieces that were covered by other outlets, but her team (in true Daily Show correspondent fashion) created a documentary styled video. These clips are generated purely for viewers of the program.

9. No interviews! Rather than listen to an actor or creator of some kind discuss their upcoming releases, Full Frontal removes this (at times tedious) segment.

10. Samantha Bee may be the next Jon Stewart. If Jon Stewart’s departure has left a viewer in need of a sarcastic host, Bee can fill that void.
