Let me just put it out there, studying is dry. With finals season upon us, we not only have to study for one, but MULTIPLE exams. To spice up your dull study sessions, music is your best friend. Many people can’t concentrate when they listen to music with words, then end up defaulting to classical music which they fear could put them to sleep. Here are some unconventional study soundtracks that will hype up your study sessions:

1. Steampunk and Victorian soundtracks

If you need something fast paced that gets your blood pumping, you should definitely try studying with this! It’s a compilation of epic movie soundtracks that will turn your boring studying session into a kickass mission.

2. Accordion music

If you love Europe, then you should definitely try studying with accordion music in the background. Imagine studying with a cup of coffee in your hand while sitting in a cute little café in an alley in Paris.

3. Hawaiian

If you’re looking for something relaxing, this will be the one for you! Studying won’t even feel like work when you feel like you’re by the beach with candlelit tables and smelling the saltiness of the sea.

4. Medieval, Scottish and Celtic music

Go look up any Medieval, Scottish, or Celtic music on YouTube and you will immediately be transported back in time, studying in a nice cottage.

5. Movie soundtracks

Movie soundtracks also make a really good study companion, and you can pick your movie soundtrack based on how you’re feeling at the moment. Some movies that have really great soundtrack are Harry Potter, Hugo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park & World, and Interstellar. They’re “award-winning” for a reason.

6. Jazz

There are so many subgenres of jazz that you’ll definitely be able to find to suit your studying taste. There’s swing, bebop, bossa nova and other different ones for different moods.

7. Classical music

A lot of people think classical music is boring and sleep-inducing, but the truth is, you just have to pick the right ones. The Nutcracker and  Swan Lake pieces by Tchaikovsky are a wonderful addition to your study sessions, especially for the cold season.

Happy studying, collegeittes!
