Being single on Valentine’s Day is not an easy task with all your relatives/friends darting you with questions on why you’re single, the obnoxious amount of PDA going around and above average annoyance for anything love related.  But it doesn’t have to be a dreadful holiday for the ‘singles’, there are plenty of fun ways to do your V-day solo.

1.Treat yourself to a spa day

We all need a day to pamper ourselves and just have the ultimate relaxation day and there is no better day for practicing self-love then the day of love itself. Plus who wouldn’t want to use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to go get yourself all glammed up. There is no better way than getting your nails, a massage or your hair done to make yourself feel more refreshed and beautiful. If you are looking to cut costs and still want to have this type of experience then have a ‘ladies night’ where all of your single girl friends can come together and relax.

2. Play cupid for anyone you know is single

There’s no holiday like Valentine’s Day to remind you of how lonely you are. A fun and uplifting thing you could do is go out and buy a bouquet of flowers and hand a flower out to all of the single people you know or you could do it in the form of baked goods, whatever works best for you. As random as it may sound, simply acknowledging other single people can truly make their day and yours too. I did the flower idea before and it made so many people smile and made me feel really good that I could uplift someone on a day where they felt singled out (pun intended).

3. Go on a mini adventure

If you are looking to get out and having a more adventurous V-Day I would 10/10 recommend picking something attainable off your bucket list and just doing it! It could be something as simple as driving yourself to a drive in movie theater or something more extravagant like go to a ski resort and learn how to ski. Whatever it is you’ve been wanting to do but have been holding off on, don’t pass up on any fun opportunities you’re interested in.

4. Host an open invitation dinner party

Hosting a dinner party for all your friends (singles and couples) would be not only fun for all the singles to not be alone but for everyone to integrate into each other’s lives. Inviting anyone you know would open a lot of doors to new friendships and overall a good night of food and laughter with old and new friends.

5. Veg out at home

This is option of spending V-Day is the one we hear the most probably because we love a good excuse to allow ourselves to lay and bed and do nothing but watching tv and eating unhealthy foods. There’s nothing wrong with not wanting to fake the enthusiasm for a holiday that you could really care less about. Besides, there’s no better company than yourself and of course it could always  be improved if you had a fur baby with you.

Just because there are a ton of couples around us reminding us how single we are there are a ton of ways we could celebrate it. There’s no right or wrong way to celebrate the holiday as long as you enjoy yourself and have fun with it. Happy Valentine’s Day, collegiettes!
