In a Vlogbrothers video I recently watched, Hank Green continued to provide me with yet another bright-colored lens to see my life through when he said, “This [creating weekly video content] is my extreme sport … I like this the way that some people like jumping out of planes.” Out of all that I could have expected to happen in my day, living by a new and needed mindset was a pleasant surprise.

I am often too quick to dismiss the feelings I live through as silly, irrational or unjustified. I’ll think to myself, why should something that is so simple to others be so difficult for me? Or at harder times, is a certain dream that I have worth it for the hardships it’s causing me? I’ve spent so many days with my head spinning trying to find the right answer to these thoughts and I think Hank Green has handed it to me on a silver platter—this is me jumping out of my plane.

Instead of skydiving, I’ve chosen to pursue entrepreneurship—otherwise known as a black hole of money, time and energy. But this is my extreme sport; I am willingly putting myself through endeavors that scare the sh*t out of me for a view to die for that not many experience. I’ll be doing it for the adrenaline rush, for the sense of accomplishment, for the borderline insanity and for the moment I’ll get back on the ground and say, “Let’s do it again.”

I don’t write any of this to boast about my ambitions or to favorably compare them to anyone else’s; the beauty is we all have our own planes we jump out of. I hope you’re enjoying the view as you jump out of yours.
