Her Campus Spring Break Survival Kits Review

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Geneseo chapter.

I recently became the Social Media Coordinator for Geneseo’s Her Campus chapter, and I was so excited to be doing my first product review! I found it was especially fun to think of creative ways to photograph the products. The greatest part of this is being able to share an honest review with people because no one has the time or money to use the trial and error method when it comes to their beauty routine. I’ve reviewed these products so you don’t have to and can decide if they are something you want to add to your routine without the hassle!

Alba Botanica® Hawaiian Green Tea Sunscreen SPF 45

I’ve been pale since birth which means that I’ve been using tons and tons of sunscreen my whole life. I’ve always hated the smell of sunscreen. I joke about how sunscreen is my signature scent, but it’s not a joke anymore because this sunscreen actually smells great! The green tea scent is pleasant and not too overwhelming. I recommend this to anyone who forgets to put on sunscreen because this one smells so good that you will be reapplying just for the green tea smell! Another great thing about this product is that it’s a fairly high SPF which is important for protecting your skin from harm.

Almay Shadow Squad™ Eyeshadow

My favorite thing about this product is the blending possibilities! With the four different shades and finishes of the same color in each compact, you can create a beautiful light to dark smokey eye with already matched colors. I hate having to search through palates trying to find a slightly darker shade of one color just to make the effect I’m going for. That’s not a problem with these compacts! The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the orange-pink color I chose. I thought it was going to be more pink and less orange. It isn’t a color that I would wear for everyday purposes, but it definitely works for a more bold look.

Bed Head by TIGI Superstar Queen for A Day Thickening Spray

Have you ever heard the phrase “A dab’ll do you”? That is a very important phrase with this product! It works very well, but you only need a small amount especially if you have thick hair like I do. The first time I tested out this spray, I used way too much and looked like I belong in the 80’s. Once I figured out just how much to use, I was loving the volume it gave me!

Bed Head by TIGI Get Twisted Anti-Frizz Finishing Spray

This product made my curls very happy! I usually have to use a few handfuls of mousse to tame my wavy-curly mess of hair, but I used about three sprays of this then scrunched my hair, and it gave me the best hair day! The only thing to watch out for is crunchy hair. I have fairly long, thick hair, and I only used three sprays. If you use too much, your hair will be stuck to itself!

Buxom Cosmetics Va-Va-Plump Shiny Liquid Lipstick in Wine Me

I am always skeptical of lipstick. I have had way too many traumatizing experiences of lipstick fading horribly after an hour, lipstick smearing off my lips and onto my face and lipstick being a completely different color than I thought for me to trust a new lipstick immediately. The color was a lot bolder than I thought it would be, but I wasn’t mad about it! I’m not the most bold person, but I felt extra daring when I wore this! I was also very happy to find that I only had to reapply this once halfway through the day. Unfortunately, because it’s liquid, it does have a tendency to go everywhere. I went to scratch my nose and came back with lipstick on my sleeve! With a bit of lipliner, I’m sure the smudge issue could be resolved.  The beautiful color and lasting quality is worth the hazard, however.

Krazy Glue All Purpose Singles 4ct.-0.5g

I was honestly most excited for the Krazy Glue in this survival kit! I enjoy customizing cards to send to friends, and the Krazy Glue was perfect for gluing paint samples with fun quotes on them to my stationery! I also ended up fixing my e-reader cover with it. It was peeling apart, and the Krazy Glue was a quick and lasting fix!

L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towelettes

I had never used a self-tanner before I tried these towelettes. I have to admit, it wasn’t the worst! I think I’m going to stick to my natural, pale complexion, but these did give me an easy and genuine looking tan! I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they didn’t make me look artificial at all! I’m also really impressed by the idea of towelettes. They are less messy than sprays and way more compact.

Overall, all of us at Geneseo’s Her Campus chapter were delighted by the Spring Break Survival Kits! They were full of fun and useful products that helped us through spring break and then some!
