The re-release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is finally out, and Swifties from across the globe could not be more excited (including me!). Swift’s fifth studio album ranges from sweet-sounding love tunes like This Love and Style to immediate pop hits such as Bad Blood and Shake it Off. However, have you ever wondered what your favorite songs on this album say about you? Well look no further – your answer is here.

Welcome to New York

This song is a fun, bright way to start the album, and is for girls who like to have fun. You have put this song on your dance playlist, or have screamed it in the car with your friends. Bonus points if you’ve posted an Instagram story of the New York skyline to this song. Swift’s intro track is very carefree, fun, and light, much like the girls claiming this as their favorite song.

Blank Space

If you’re like me, then you were obsessed with this song (and music video) back in 2014. A long list of Starbucks lovers? I don’t think so. If this is your jam, you appreciate the finer things in life and are not afraid to speak your mind. You know never to settle for second best (and you keep a golf club with you at all times).

Style

Some fans speculate that this song is about Harry Styles, another pop icon and ex of Swift herself. However, this song is not just for the Harry girlies (sorry, I still love you HS). This song is also for the girls who are laid back and probably love to read romance novels on the beach. You love to drive with the windows down, feel the wind through your hair, and smell the salt in the air.

Out of the Woods

With the bright pop ballads, a scream-worthy bridge, and an encapsulated message of wanting something and it slipping away, this song is perfect for girls who want some scream therapy. If this is your favorite song on the album, you are a sweet, sensitive person who may tend to put others’ needs before her own. You also love Twilight.

All You Had to Do Was Stay

This underrated song focuses on the regrets and the frustration Swift has from the person who did, well, not want to stay. If this song is your favorite, you know what you want in life. You may have been heartbroken in the past, but you learned to rise above it. You for sure had a VS Pink or Forever 21 obsession back in 2014.

Shake it Off

Perhaps the most well-known song on the album, “Shake it Off” is a cult classic. When needing to “shake off” the haters, this is what you put on. You dance every single time this song comes on the radio (guilty), and it fills you with nostalgia Every. Single. Time. Who could forget this iconic bridge?

I Wish You Would

Don’t be fooled by the light tune this song holds. The girls who love this song relate to the lyrics and know how it feels to miss someone. This song is the dreamer girl anthem who gives her all and puts her heart on the line.

Bad Blood

I have two words for this song: Music. Video. The music video to this song is one of my favorites, it was that good. The celebrity cameos (Ellen Pompeo, Zendaya, Ellie Goulding, etc.), the storyline, and Kendrick Lamar? Unmatched. Therefore, it’s safe to say that if this is your favorite, you are powerful and confident. Or maybe you’re just a fangirl (like me).

Wildest Dreams

This song is sweet and quiet. It is very chill and makes me want to fly and float in the clouds. If this is your song, you love life and are a true sweetheart. You read books under the covers even when your parents said to go to sleep. You probably shopped at Justice growing up.

How You Get The Girl

This song has Swift giving advice to her future lovers, and roasting the ones that she already knew. It’s a funny song advising men to do things that may just seem like common sense. If this is your favorite, you either went through a heartbreak and are now laughing at the situation, or you flow with the beat and lyrics this song has.

This Love

I’m not going to lie, this song makes me sob every time I listen to it. A beautiful song about letting someone go, this song puts you right in your feelings. If this is your favorite song, I hope you get closure and find someone who truly loves you. You are a beautiful soul and deserve the world.

I Know Places

I feel like this song was a prequel to Taylor’s next album, Reputation. The beat and lyrics of this song are catchy, and she uses metaphors like animals to describe the turmoil of being in a public relationship. If this is your favorite, you are genuinely a cool person. You just seem like someone everyone would want to hang out with.

Clean

A song about feeling like yourself again, and quite literally, feeling clean. This tune shows Swift’s acceptance of heartbreak. If this is your favorite song, you have overcome some sort of hardship in life, and I just want you to know that I am proud of you.

Wonderland

The beat and imagery in this song are unmatched. Swift uses the story of Alice in Wonderland in this break-up song, and it’s a perfect way for listeners to envision how Swift truly felt in this relationship. If Wonderland is your jam, you are a daydreamer and you probably love to draw or paint.

You Are in Love

This fearlessly fearless song tells a sweet love story being watched from afar. Therefore, this song is the anthem for the hopeless romantics out there. Enough said.

New Romantics

In the final song of 1989, Swift talks about modern love and embracing change. If this is your favorite, you are strong, powerful, and ready to take on the world. You don’t need a fairytale ending (but maybe would want one).

No matter your favorite 1989 song, you are all-powerful, strong, and enough. From handling heartbreak to accepting yourself, or simply having fun, Swift explores all of it in this album. Now stop reading and go stream 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
