It has been a hard summer for everyone to adjust to ever since the outbreak of COVID-19. Several individuals have lost their jobs, homes, businesses, and even close loved ones due to this infectious disease. The United States continues to be diligent and stays up to date with how they control the spread of the COVID and keeps everyone safe. However, the number of death tolls continues to rise, and the U.S has lost more than 200,000 people due to Covid-19.

According to John Hopkins University, Covid-19 is now the leading cause of death in the United States. Officials have stated that vaccines are being tested but it will take time for a vaccine to develop and be widely distributed. With that being said, the death tolls have exceeded far from what leading experts had hoped would be a smaller number. However, since states have uplifted their restrictions on their control measures, we are not certain for what the future holds.

Bob Bednarczyk, who is an assistant professor of global health in Atlanta believes that the United States is becoming numb to these numbers. Although these numbers continue to increase, we must ensure that we are all doing our parts and controlling the spread. This includes wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and hand washing after touching surfaces. If we continue to do our part, we can definitely see a stabilization in numbers and hopefully return to normality. Though it is worth noting, there is a lot more that needs to be done to reduce the number of deaths. This includes having more diagnostic tests and tests to identify contact tracing. In addition, there should be more activities that centralize low-risk settings such as having more online interaction and less in-person contact.

Nothing is certain for what the future holds, but we have always done a good job of knowing how to act as a country and making sure we are doing our part to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
