Trump at the Debates Part 2

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has taken the high road in the past couple debates. We have seen a change in demeanor in Donald Trump, a good, calmer demeanor so more supporters will take him seriously and listen to his stances. He even went as far as to apologize for some of his controversial comments. Despite having what feels like the world against you, Donald Trump has pulled through all the anger and hate and has continued to gain support.

On the other hand, Democratic presidential nominee, Hilary Clinton, continues to dig herself in a deeper hole.  She can never get past her email scandal and she continues to dish it out on Trump. When asked to say something she respects about her opponent, she just said “his children” as if implying there isn’t a single thing she respects about him. Trump, on the other hand, paid her a compliment by saying “she never gives up”. Trump has been facing backlash for being childish and foolish but after this exchange, it is clear who is really trying to be the bigger, more mature person in this election.

In addition to apologizing for some past behavior, trump also accepts his faults. To a national audience, Clinton bagged on Trump saying he had to apologize and gave and laundry list of things he should apologize for and he accepted it and said he already apologized for the comments he was sorry about. For Clinton, when Trump got to her laundry list of things to be sorry about, she said they were all lies and never happened, including her email scandal. At this point in the election, everyone knows about her email scandal, so there is really no point in denying it. Instead of owning up to her mistakes and making an effort to apologize, she accused her opponent of having the wrong facts but she didn’t back herself up to that accusation.

Donald Trump was the one with the overall presidential image and the overall presidential demeanor. Donald Trump cares about this country, he brought up the corruption in office and how Hilary Clinton is just one on a long list of corrupt politicians, bringing up the fact that she has so much money but won’t self fund her campaign. These debates are extremely important as we near the election. Many important points are brought into the debate and help the undecided voters choose between the two candidates.
