Three Christian YouTubers That Can Guide Your Way Through College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

College is a time where life presents you with a plethora of question marks. What career path should I choose? What core values do I really believe in? Should I date in college? Will I meet my future spouse in college? The list goes on.

With that being said, a productive way to help you navigate through these uncertainties is to heed advice and guidance from YouTubers. YouTube has become an entire outlet of information. It is no research database, but it is still jam-packed full of information. Here are three YouTube channels created by Christians that can empower you during your journey of life and faith.

Jon Jorgenson

Jon Jorgenson is the perfect YouTuber to watch to learn more about the Lord in a virtual setting. The way Jon presents his material is easy to follow. Consequently, learning more about the Bible and the Lord is less intimidating and much more motivating. Jon’s passion for Jesus and living a Christ-filled life is contagious and inspiring to his viewers. His channel consists of spoken word poems, multiple Bible study series, seven minute sermons, and engaging segments including “coffee time,” “out of context,” and many more.

Jon effectively performs his job of communicating meaningful messages, while also expressing the light-heartedness of life by incorporating raw humor and real-life moments into his content. The viewer can appreciate that there is a healthy balance of real-talk and humor. The fact is clear when watching his channel that he too is an imperfect human who makes mistakes and is on his own journey of faith just like everyone else. He brings himself down to the viewers’ level by confessing his faults and proclaiming that he is not perfect and is learning and growing his relationship with the Lord every day.

In addition to his Christian-based content, he has a vlog channel called “Jorgenfam” with his wife Erin and their Australian Shepard dog Buckets. Jon gives his audience a look into his life at another angle by showing clips of his personal life. He keeps his audience in the loop of his daily struggles and shares his daily realizations along the way. As if two channels were not enough, he also has a podcast called “The Joncast” and a podcast with his wife called “The Bear & the Swan.” So check out his content and be open to the fact that everyone is a work in progress and has room for growth and transformation.

Paul and Morgan

Paul and Morgan’s channel is recommended for anyone who is assessing their morals regarding the romance department. The topic of dating is a relevant topic in college, and that topic can be daunting. Paul and Morgan are YouTubers who can help the college demographic navigate how they will approach dating. Naturally, non-Christians may not agree with some of what Paul and Morgan say. Even Christians will not agree with everything they say and that is okay. While the channel may deal with a lot of controversial topics, Paul and Morgan approach each topic with dignity and grace, and do not force their opinions onto their viewers.

Emily Wilson

Last but not least, Emily Wilson’s channel is all about empowering women. Emily’s passion toward empowering women is obvious through her content and through the genuine manner in which she speaks to her viewers. On her channel, she talks about self-worth, college, dating, marriage, femininity, and being a radiant daughter of God. She also speaks about her time at Arizona State University and how she felt isolated being a Christian at an enormous university full of diversity.

In addition to her YouTube channel, she wrote a book called “Go Bravely” specifically designed for girls in high school to girls in their twenties. In this book, Emily goes in depth about what it means for women to be brave and to be a daughter of God who is pursuing the Lord.

Taking in all the information you can while in college is an opportunity that cannot be passed up. College is the perfect stage in life to take in new information and hear different perspectives on various topics relevant to your life. Everything you learn in this stage of your life will contribute to your identity. College is a time where you form all of your own opinions and begin to think more independently. How you choose to go about forming your opinions and core beliefs is up to you. YouTube is just an option that may open up a new door to you that you had never realized was there until now.

Hello everyone! I My name is Clara and I am pursuing my college degree in English for Secondary Education. Reading and writing are some of my obvious passions, but I also have a love for music. Singing worship music in particular is one of my creative outlets when I am not writing. One of the reasons I enjoy writing so much is because the possibilities in the writing world are endless. There are infinite ways to construct a sentence, paragraph, article, or book. I find that amazing!
