Shows on Netflix to Binge-Watch During Quarantine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

These unfortunate and extremely difficult circumstances have made the majority of us housebound. Staying home doesn’t have to be a catastrophe and can be a great time to catch up on all the shows you might have been unable to watch with your hectic schedule.

All American

Football, social issues, romances. This CW teen show has been on Netflix’s Top Ten list for the last couple of weeks. Inspired by the true story of professional American football player, Spencer Paysinger, All American follows the life of rising high school football star, Spencer James. After transferring from South Crenshaw High to Beverly Hills High, Spencer must balance his old life in Crenshaw with his new life in the Hills while dealing with drama and negative influences. Seasons 1 and 2 are on Netflix.

Love is Blind

If you’re in the mood to waste some time watching a reality show where couples try to test the age-old question, “Is love blind?”, then I have a show for you. Singles try to match and find love by speed dating others through a wall. If they couple up they do not get to see each other until they are engaged! They agree to marry someone without ever seeing them! It’s a wild concept, but I have to admit I got emotionally invested in some of the couples.

You

Hey, you. If you haven’t had the chance to watch this thriller, now is the time. Joe, a seemingly average and kind bookstore manager becomes infatuated with stranger, Guinevere Beck. But his crush quickly becomes something more sinister. This show is chilling and will scare you in the moments you start to root for the villain. Seasons 1 and 2 are out now.

The Good Place

Taking a more lighthearted and comedic turn is the NBC sitcom The Good Place. After Eleanor wakes up to find herself dead and, in the afterlife,, she is lucky to discover that she made it to “the good place.” Soulmates, dream houses, and froyo, what more could someone hope for in eternal afterlife. Only it doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she doesn’t belong there. Seasons 1-3 are streaming on Netflix.

The Walking Dead

I’m sure you’re familiar with this apocalyptic zombie show, it has been airing since 2010. But if you aren’t or haven’t had the opportunity to watch it, I highly recommend it. This drama follows a group of people as they face the months and years after the zombie apocalypse. It is pretty gory and violent, so viewers beware. 9 seasons are currently on Netflix, so bunker down and binge away.

The Society

Think Lord of the Flies, but this time add girls and set it in modern day society. Busloads of high school students find themselves trapped in their hometown without adults and contact to the outside world, leaving them to survive on their own. The exhilaration of freedom quickly turns to fear as these students have to establish order and rules as not to fall into anarchy.
