Quotes from Halloweentown to Inspire you this Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

I am sure you are all familiar with the Disney Channel Original movie Halloweentown (if you are not, I highly recommend watching it on Disney Plus as soon as possible!) This heartwarming and family friendly centers around the Cromwell’s, a family of witches, who have to embark on a journey to save their town from dark and evil forces. Here are some positive and fun quotes from the 1998 movie that are sure to make you smile this spooky season!

1. “Being normal is vastly overrated.”

Different is good! Being yourself is far better than stressing about fitting into the standards set by others. People are special because we are all unique and different. Take some advice from the Cromwell’s and embrace your weirdness!

2. “Magic is really very simple. All you have to do is want something and then let yourself have it.”

If you take out the word magic, this is a great quote about chasing after your hopes and dreams. If you really want something, it is important to work hard for it and open yourself to the possibility of it becoming a reality. Afterall, finally getting something you worked for and really wanted is a pretty magical feeling.

3. “You can’t tell what’s in a monster’s heart just by looking at ‘em. I mean, sometimes, some of the slimiest, raunchiest, ugliest little monsters turn out to be the nicest.”

The Halloweentown version of “you can’t judge a book by its cover,” and it is 100% true. Everything is not always what it seems and people are not always who they appear to be. That is why judging someone based on the content of their character is far superior to judging someone based on their looks. Sometimes the kindest people have the hardest exteriors and giving someone the chance to open up and show who they really are, can make all the difference in the world.

4. “How are we supposed to grow up if we’re not allowed to go into the world, try new things, and take some risks?”

Definitely should have used this line on my parents when I was younger. Not too sure how they would have responded, but I respect Marnie for her courage in trying. Sass aside, I really do like the message of this quote. How are you ever supposed to grow and learn if you are staying in one spot and not trying new things or expanding your worldview? People need to be able change and develop new ideas, that is why it is so important for people to get out of their personal bubbles and “go into the world.”

5. “Halloween is cool.”

I have to agree with Marnie on this one, Halloween is cool. The candy, scary movies, costumes, and decorations… what more could you ask for? Halloween is definitely one of the best holidays, and one tons of people look forward to it every year.

Happy spooky season! Hope you all had a safe and fun Halloween this year, even with everything this year has thrown at us all.
