Hello beautiful people! It’s Adela and I’d like to introduce you guys to a writing segment that I’d like to call “Music 101,’’ where I just put you readers onto some great artists that make great music! I’m going to start this segment with the beautiful and talented British girl group, Little Mix. Little Mix rose to fame from participating in the UK version of singing competition reality show, The X Factor. Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, and Perrie Edwards were between the ages of 18-20 when they appeared on the X-Factor. They had no idea of what was to come, they auditioned as solo artists with a dream of winning. They were later placed into a group to continue to compete in the show by former Destiny’s Child member herself, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa, who is a popular singer in the UK. The girls were nervous about working with one another, but to their disbelief, their voices blended very well with each other. The girls won the X-Factor in 2011 becoming the first group ever to win the X-Factor!

Now that you know the beginnings of Little Mix, it’s time to get into the good stuff: their music! Now, I’ve been a fan since 2012, when I heard their first single ‘Wings’ from their debut album DNA. ‘Wings‘ is an upbeat song with amazing highlights of brass instruments. DNA has a blend of many different sounds. However, the most distinct genres that can be heard throughout the album are pop, dance-pop, and R&B. I highly recommend giving the album a listen, especially the songs Turn Your Face, DNA, and Going Nowhere.

The girls currently have five studio albums under their belt with each one displaying an immense amount of growth in their artistry. They just celebrated their eighth anniversary of being a group and Mixers, (Little Mix fans) like myself, are extremely proud of what the girls have accomplished in 8 years alone! They have won plenty of awards including the British equivalent of a Grammy, a Brit award. Their most recent album LM5 is one of their best albums. I may be a bit biased since it is my personal favorite, but there is no doubt that the album has a modern twist on pop, hip-hop, and R&B while still being loyal to the roots of those genres. My favorite tracks from this phenomenal album are Love a Girl Right, Think About Us, American Boy, Wasabi, Motivate, Notice, and last but certainly not least, Forget You Not. I know this is a long list, but these songs and this album are surely worth it! They also have other albums such as Salute, Get Weird, and Glory Days.

Lucky for you the girls of Little Mix also have fun and entertaining personalities, so feel free to watch their interactive videos or interviews online through Youtube or any other social media platform you like. Remember, I am only suggesting you listen to Little Mix. Just try them out and see how you like them! I promise you that Jade, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, and Perrie won’t disappoint you!

Hello beautiful people! I'm Adela and I am more than happy to be apart of HerCapusGCU. I love to write about pop culture and everyday stories that us girls tend to experience! I love music and I love to connect how it makes me feel and the artists' stories to my writing as well. Hopefully, you all love my writing as much as I love to right it!
