IVY PARK was named after Beyoncé’s first child, Blue Ivy. The workouts Beyonce had in the park by her house where she was growing up also inspired her when naming this collection. IVY PARK was initially launched back in April 2016 and was co-created with the fashion company, Topshop. After it was discovered that Topshop boss, Sir Phillip Green was a serial sexual offender, the singer bought back the entire company. This purchase made Beyoncé the first African-American woman to own an athleisure line. She even models all the clothes and products herself on the Adidas website.

Beyoncé and her clothing line were featured on the cover of Elle Magazine for the January 2020 issue. In an interview for the magazine she revealed, “I took a chance on myself when I bought my company back. We all have the confidence in us to take chances and bet on ourselves.”

She also revealed that after seeing all the men interested in IVY PARK, she decided to make this collection gender neutral. In the interview, Beyoncé spoke about how the fashion line, “Incorporates my personal style and expands that to include something for everyone. I love experimenting with fashion, mixing high and low, sportswear with couture, even masculine and feminine. This new line is fun and lends itself to creativity, the ultimate power.” The promotional video for the clothing line uploaded to Beyoncé’s Youtube displays how all these themes and values were executed, with powerful shots of the star and a diverse cast.

Beyoncé also got her famous friends to promote her line by surprising them with a large orange box filled with her collection, which not only got fans excited for the line but celebrities as well. Some A list celebrities who were gifted the collection were: Ellen, Zendaya, Hailey Bieber, Cardi B, and Reese Witherspoon who was so excited she made a Tik Tok video of her trying on the clothes.

Even though the collection just dropped, reviews are already in. Vogue describes the collection as “Hollywood’s hottest commodity”. CNBC revealed that their analysts say, “IVY PARK could eventually surpass Yeezy sales”. With the majority of the collection already selling out before the end of the first day, it looks like Beyoncé’s IVY PARK just might do that,.
