In the spirit of Thanksgiving, this article is just an appreciation for the people and things that I am extremely grateful to have in my life.

Disney+

My love. Thank you for providing the best throwback shows and movies a girl could ask for. I appreciate having you as an escape from all the homework I have procrastinated on. I apologize to Netflix and Hulu for abandoning them at this time, but Disney was my first love. From singing along to Jungle Book to dancing with Mary Poppins, thank you for the wonderful memories and the amazing opportunity to re-watch my favorite movies. Like watching all the Cinderella movies or watching Wizards of Waverly Place (which I’m doing right now actually).

Julia

My Nurse. Thank you for being the best roommate a brother can ask for. I appreciate all that you do and all that you have done for me. Thank you for those late-night talks about boys, rings, and medical junk. I appreciate you allowing me to vent about work life and ask you nursing questions all the time. Thank you for all the hikes and motivations you gave me – I hope we get to do more. And, thank you for accepting me for who I am and not who you want me to be. I love you.

My Laptop

My life. Thank you, laptop, for always working when I do late assignments and turn them in at 11:57 pm. You are the realest. You’ve stayed by my side with no problems even after I accidentally dropped you from my bunk bed sophomore year. You are the best! Thank you for having enough storage for me to keep all my assignments from freshman year to now, my senior year. I appreciate you bending over and letting me play Candy Crush before class starts and letting the other kids in class think that I broke you.

Natalie

My teacher. Thank you for believing that I would make a great Vice President of the United States. But that’s waaaayy too much pressure for me so I’ll stick to being your Secretary of State. Thank you for allowing me to bounce off ideas with you. Like planning better prison reform, mental health awareness in secondary education, and the tons of research you have in your excellent brain about autism and special education. I appreciate being your sous chef when we cook dinner and do the dishes. I appreciate you for always letting me touch your mega soft hair. I love you.

I suggest you write your own gratitude letter as it is very therapeutic and helpful for your mental health.

Angelito

My baby. Literally. Currently you are 9 months and growing too fast. Slow down. I am thankful that my sister gave birth to you so I get to be your crazy aunt. I will teach you how to be a great man and treat everyone you meet with kindness and respect. I love you for being your cute little self and letting me tickle you so I can hear your amazing laugh. Thank you for mimicking me and sticking out your tongue. I love you for always recognizing me when we facetime, as you smile that big smile you get from your Nina. Hopefully I find this article again so I can read it to you when you are older. I love you.

Thank you for reading this article. I now suggest you write your own gratitude letter as it is very therapeutic and helpful for your mental health. The more you are grateful in your life the less you strive to outbeat anyone else. Gratefulness helps you become self-actualized, and allows you to go forth and achieve your purpose with no baggage of self-doubt or negativity to hold you back. Take the quiz linked below to understand your gratitude score. What do you think it means for you personally?
