Beauty on a Budget: Makeup Product Dupes to Add to Your Makeup Bag This Summer

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCU chapter.

Whether you are looking for more affordable products or want to try some new ones out this summer, this is for you! There are several drugstore makeup products that are comparable to high-end products! By adding these dupes to your makeup bag this summer, you will never have to splurge again. Here are five dupes for beauty on a budget:

Swap out Laura Mercier Setting Powder for Airspun Powder

When soaking in the summer sun, powder is a must to keep your makeup set and lasting. Laura Mercier Setting Powder keeps makeup in place but is priced at around $40. What if you were able to swap it out and use a product that does the same thing? Airspun’s setting powder is around $6! It is a loose face powder that is lightweight and can be used for baking or just setting your makeup where you may be extra oily.

Swap out Dior Lip Glow Oil for Ulta’s Juice Infused Lip Oil

Dior’s Lip Oil recently became trendy on social media. Influencers have been raving about it. Dior Lip Oil’s retail price is about $35 while Ulta’s Lip Oil is around $9. They both do the job of hydrating and giving a glossy finish. Ulta has different flavors and shades, as well! The best part is that it doesn’t get sticky, so it comes in handy when your hair is blowing in the wind with the windows down this summer!

Swap out Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil for Nyx Fill and Fluff Eyebrow Pencil

Doing brows is a popular favorite when it comes to makeup looks because they add definition to any look. As it is becoming trendier to have fluffy brows, Nyx Fill and Fluff is a lifesaver! Benefit’s Precisely My Brow and Nyx Fill and Fluff are fairly similar. If you have had a pleasant experience with Benefit’s Precisely My Brow which retails for $24 then you would love Nyx Fill and Fluff for $12. With Nyx Fill and Fluff, there is a thicker crayon, but it still allows you to be precise and brush/fluff your brows throughout the process.

Swap out Tarte Shape Tape for Revolution Conceal and Hydrate

This summer, it is important to not only hydrate our bodies, but also our skin! Tarte Shape Tape has a full coverage formula that is built to brighten and not crease. This retails for $30. Revolution Conceal and Hydrate has a very similar formula that is lightweight, but medium to full coverage. Hence the name, it was created to hydrate, conceal, and not crease. It is $10! This is perfect for being out in the sun on warm summer days!

Swap out your Beautyblender for Real Techniques Sponge!

Blending makeup is a must for that airbrushed finish. Blending sponges that are very similar include the original Beautyblender and a Real Techniques sponge. The only difference is the price! Beautyblender is $20 and Real Techniques Sponge is $6! Pro tip: Wet it for a dewy and glowy look this summer!

Spend the money you would spend on high-end makeup and instead use it on some fun experiences this summer. As always, remember you are beautiful with and without makeup!
