Oscars Red Carpet 2018: Top 5 Looks

Award shows of any kind are always much anticipated by the public. Not only is it exciting to find out which celebrity or film is being honored, but fans also long to see the stylish statements made on the infamous red carpet. The 2018 Oscars were no exception as there was no shortage of class and sophistication strolling through the flashed photography of adoring fans and paparazzi. Of all the beautiful gowns (and blazers if you’re Emma Stone), there were five timeless looks that are sure to be the buzz of the fashion industry.

#5. Gal GadotGal Gadot shimmered down the red carpet in a silver, Givenchy floor-length gown. The mermaid shape dress was accented with layers of sparkling, gunmetal grey fringe added to the drop-waist. The Gatsby style gown stood out among the other metallic dresses of the evening. While the look was not well received by some, Gadot could wear a burlap sack and still look drop dead gorgeous.

Gadot also made quite the impression by wearing Tiffany & Co.’s “Blue Ice,” a long, dangling necklace featuring 61 carats in aquamarines and over a thousand geometric diamonds placed asymmetrically along the strands.

#4 Gina Rodriguez

Ah yes, the fun and flirty Gina Rodriguez we all know and love! The Jane the Virgin star took to the red carpet alongside her partner, Joe Locicero, in a blushing Zuhair Murad ballgown and appeared to be having the time of her life. The dress had a slim, mermaid silhouette with a full tulle skirt attached at the hip. Her look was completed with rosy makeup and a sexy slicked-back ponytail. Much like Gina’s vivacious personality, her ensemble sparkled under the shimmering lights of the red carpet.

#3 Sandra Bullock

In keeping with the metallic trend of the 2018 Oscars, Sandra Bullock stood tall in her high-neck custom Louis Vuitton gown. Her hand-embroidered sequined gown featured a reverse ombre effect where the gold high-neck faded down into jet black sequins. Along the side of the dress was a solid black flowing ruffle of fabric that added a visual contrast to the abstract design of the dress.  Many fans were also pleased to see Sandra in the company of former Practical Magic co-star, Nicole Kidman. Together the two reminisced about the production of the movie and some drunken antics the two shared during filming.

#2.Eiza Gonzalez

Eiza Gonzalez presented her first Oscar award in this bright yellow Ralph Lauren gown. Not only is yellow a difficult color to pull off, but it is also rare to see it represented on the red carpet under the critical gaze of the public eye. However, the color complemented Eiza’s skin tone impeccably, and her bright lip color drew a lot of attention to her delicate face. There is no doubt that the Baby Driver actress looked phenomenal in this form-fitting gown with buckled accents across the back.

#1. Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o looked absolutely stunning in this metallic gold Atelier Versace gown. The draping effect of the cascading skirt and the clean lines of the shoulder gave the dress a very goddess-like presence. The dress also conveys a very strong and poised persona reverent to Lupita’s African heritage.

Later in the evening, Nyong’o presented the award for best production design and, much to everyone’s surprise, she did so while sporting a lovely pair of cat eye frames. After receiving much praise on social media, wearing glasses is sure to be the newest red carpet trend.

Who do you think was Best Dressed at the 2018 Oscars?
