Campus Cutie: Kelly Edwards

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at GCSU chapter.

Kelly Edwards (pictured left, in pink), a senior at GCSU, has a bubbly personality and an adorable wardrobe to boot. She’s outgoing and spontaneous and a loyal friend to have. I’m proud to say I’ve been blessed meeting this beautiful woman freshman year and staying friends all the way through.

Major/Minor:

Major – psychology / Minor – marketing

Hometown:

Roswell, Georgia

What organizations are you involved with on campus?

Club tennis and Zeta Tau Alpha

Why did you choose psychology as a major?

I chose my major because I enjoy interacting with others. I consider myself a people-person and have always been a person for people to turn to. I’ve always wanted to work with kids and focus on family values when I was in high school. Throughout my years as a psychology student and going to classes, I have never been more sure of my decision to become what I wanted to be growing up, a shoulder to lean on.

What drew you to your sorority?

What drew me to my sorority were the members. Every girl I met had a smile on her fae and only had good things to say about the organization. Each member brought something new to the table and we always have a great time with one another.

How would you suggest upcoming students choose their sorority?

I would suggest upcoming students to choose their sorority by the connection they have with the people they meet. If you do not have a connection, you will not enjoy the time you spend in the organization.

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to a little bit of every kind of music, nothing too specific. But, if I hear N’sync or Britney Spears on the radio, my windows are down and the music is loud so no one can hear me singing!

How would you describe your fashion sense or style?

My fashion sense or style consists of a pair of jeans and a cute tank and an open button down with a cute pair of flats to tie it off. I consider myself a jeans girl. My style is casual with a little pop of something I can’t quite put my finger on. [We call that a little bit of your personality showing!]

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to play sports, mainly tennis. Tennis was my passion when I was growing up. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, as well. If I’m bored, I love to go on little adventures.

What advice do you have for upcoming freshman?

My advice for upcoming freshman is to interact with everyone. Also, to buckle down and focus on your grades. One small mistake can lead to big consequences in the future.

What are your favorite college memories?

My favorite college memories are always involving my friends. Over this past summer I went on a study abroad trip to Waterford, Ireland. I think that trip took the cake on my favorite college memories. Although it was only five weeks, I have made friends not only in other schools in Georgia, but all over the world.

What’s your favorite class/professor at GCSU? What made it your favorite?

My favorite class at GCSU was Cultures and Interpersonal Relationships with Dr. Chiang. The class opened my eyes to understanding the influences of cultural, social and ethnic contexts and trends on individuals’ interpersonal relationships. Dr. Chiang not only teaches, but she creates a class where students have an open mind and a deeper knowledge of what her course is all about. She has a great sense of humor and is all about her family, so she expects us to come to her with anything we may need. She is a shoulder to lean on, just how I strive to become.

I'm a senior here at Georgia College. My major is English, with a concentration in creative writing, and a minor in Marketing. I love to write fiction with dabbles in poetry. I'm happily taken with the love of my life and we have an adorable puppy (that's mostly his, but I like to steal him.) Working with HerCampus has allowed me to get to know some wonderful girls and I couldn't be happier with the experience.
