There’s no denying it—it’s fall, y’all. My favorite season is finally here, and it brings with it some of my favorite clothing items. I’m here to help you transition your wardrobe from summer to fall, as the seasons often blend together here in the South. By following these simple steps, you’ll be more comfortable (and hopefully stylish, too).

1.      Shoes

A t-shirt or button down and jeans is pretty much a college girl staple, but by switching up your footwear from flip-flops or sneakers to boots or flats, you’ll be much more season appropriate.

2.      Sweaters—

Forget fallen leaves— I’m pretty sure sweaters are the universal symbol for fall. Whether it’s a brightly colored cardigan or an oversized comfy pullover, sweaters are a surefire way to get you in the autumn spirit. Embrace the sweater!

3.      Darker colors

I’m not saying you have to go all Wednesday Addams (unless you’re into that, then by all means go ahead), but fall definitely suggests some darker hues. Don’t be afraid to mix in bright colors if you’re not quite ready to let go of summer, just yet. After all variety is the spice of life! You could even start out in small ways—just a charcoal scarf or a navy blue nail. Baby steps.

4.      Warmer accessories

This means SCARVES and lots of them! Even the most simple outfit can get autumized (Yeah, it’s a word. Just go with it.) with the addition of an adorable scarf. And don’t forget about mittens or gloves and hats as the nights get frostier!

5.      Layers

I cannot stress this enough. We all know that Georgia weather is super temperamental, so some mornings it’s freezing and by mid-afternoon you feel as if you could go for a dip in the pool. The best way to solve this problem is by dressing in layers so that you can shed them as the temperature rises. The other day I literally left my house wearing a trench coat, a cardigan, a flannel shirt, and a t-shirt, and by the end of the day I had gotten rid of all but the last one. Layering can be a real lifesaver.

So there you have it! Go forth and celebrate fall, my collegiettes!
