Recently, TikTok trends have been the talk of the town. There are lots of inside jokes and trends shared by TikTok users, including this one: bones-day versus no-bones day. If you haven’t caved into the TikTok addiction, then you probably have no idea what this means. Don’t fret, because you will soon enough!

Have you ever heard of Groundhog Day? You probably have, since it’s a national tradition. Just like we put our faith into a groundhog’s shadow to tell us if spring will come sooner or later, bones-day and no-bones day acts as a daily version of depending on an animal to tell us something about our future.

The trend began with a pug named Noodle. Let’s get this straight; Noodle does, in fact, have bones. However, he’s 13 years old, and some days he just doesn’t want to use those bones. So, his owner takes a video each day of himself lifting Noodle up and then setting him back down. If Noodle stays standing, then it’s a bones-day. If Noodle flops over, then it’s a no-bones day.

What does Noodle’s presence or lack of bones have to do with predicting your future? Well, if it’s a bones-day, then you should take risks, go on an adventure, get your work done, etc. If it’s a no-bones day, then you should relax, and as Noodle’s owner says, you are not allowed to wear hard pants (like jeans). No-bones days consist of comfy clothes and self-care.

Noodle’s TikTok page has racked up 2 million followers over the course of a month. There are a LOT of people depending on Noodle to tell them what their day will be like. Now, is Noodle a true fortune teller? Probably not. However, the bones versus no-bones trend has a positive outcome on either side: productivity or self-care. Bones-day and no-bones day is a mindset. Even if you choose to have a bones-day when it’s a no-bones day, or vice versa, it’s still fun to check and see what kind of day the rest of Noodle’s followers might be having.

So, start checking Noodle’s videos. Take your days one step at a time. If Noodle determines it’s a bones-day, let yourself be inspired to do work and have fun. If it’s a no-bones day, let yourself catch up on rest. In a world full of pressure and stress, let a pug bring you some joy each day.
