Actress and fashion icon, Blake Lively, has been making quite the statement with her new suit obsession.

Former Gossip Girl star has been rocking menswear inspired ensembles during her promo tour for her newest movie, A Simple Favor. From velvet to plaid and neon green to pinstriped, Lively has been showing off her collection of perfectly tailored pantsuits.

Lively tells E! News that her suits are inspired by both her character in A Simple Favor, Emily Nelson, and the film’s director, Paul Feig.

Lively’s style inspo, Feig, told Fox News, “I like women taking the power, the power items that men have which is suits and ties and making it their own.”

But of course, the 31-year-old actress’s bold fashion choices that have caused her to stand out have led to some backlash. One of her Instagram followers commented on her photograph, “I say this with so much love & respect for you babe, please hire a stylist or fire the one you’re currently with.”

Being her own stylist, Lively savagely responded, “Thank you for the tips, sir. Alas, I’ve tried to fire @blakelively so many times. But that b*tch just keeps coming back. She won’t leave me alone.” Show ‘em who’s boss, Blake Lively!

Also, being called out for bending gender norms, Lively responded to a blog saying, “Would you note a man wearing lots of suits during a promo tour? So why can’t a woman? Just sayinnnn. No double standards ladies.”

Blake Lively is showing all of her fans that we can wear what we want and feel good in our outfits without worrying about sticking to stereotypes or what other people think. Maybe men are just threatened by the idea of strong females taking over their style?

The star of A Simple Favor is not only killing the sophisticated suit game, but she is standing up for women everywhere, turning into a feminist icon. Don’t sleep on this trend, join Lively in defeating double standards by incorporating her aesthetic into your wardrobe! Together, we can help to get rid of gender stereotypes and look good doing it!
