Why We Should All Show Our Appreciation For This ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Character

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

It’s been a long and hard thirteen seasons for the dedicated Grey’s Anatomy fans. We’ve seen endless cycles of love and heartbreak, amazing saves and devastating losses. We mourn the loss of way too many main characters (no thanks to Shonda Rhimes) and pray for the safety of the few who remain. We beg for the return of beloved characters, such as Cristina Yang, who had no right to leave us like they did, and for a new (preferably good looking) man to walk in to Meredith’s life and turn her back in to the kind hearted person we swear she used to be. We never know what is coming next, and we have learned to expect the worst. It has been a drama-filled thirteen seasons, but through it all there has been one constant that we can count on. One character that has been there through all of the excitement and despair, assisting with surgery after surgery, helping to save countless lives. Maybe you haven’t noticed her because she’s never caught up in love triangles or scandals, but that doesn’t mean that her presence at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is not important.

But no more tiptoeing around the subject — introducing Grey’s Anatomy’s most dependent character and scrub nurse, Bokhee.

While she can easily go unnoticed if you are not paying attention, this scrub nurse deserves all of our appreciation. Bokhee is the one character that we never have to worry about because she has always been there, and hopefully, always will be. Heck, at this rate, she may even be the only original character left by the end of the series.

While she may be quiet, this woman could single handedly keep the OR running. Not even a bomb in a man’s chest could keep her from doing her job right, and there is no telling where the prominent surgeons of Grey’s would be without her. Yeah, maybe Bokhee has only had a few lines throughout her thirteen seasons on Grey’s Anatomy, but those eyes as she stands in the OR are filled with knowledge and passion that can’t be measured. And did I mention that she is actually a scrub nurse in real life? Not only can this woman act, but she can also save actual lives. She may very well be Wonder Woman if you ask me, and I know that the surgeons of Grey Sloan Memorial would say the same.

Characters come and go (or usually die), but we will always have Bokhee. It is safe to say that if I was a surgeon on Grey’s Anatomy (which, face it, we have all dreamed of that happening at some point in our lives), there is no scrub nurse I would rather have by my side than Bokhee. She is what we Grey’s fans call the real MVP. Keep up the good work, Bokhee!
