What We’re Obsessing Over: Finals Week Faves

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Finally, we are in the home stretch! This semester was a rough one (#TBT to Hurricane Hermine and the Brangelina split) and we can all agree that we are glad it is almost over. With the end of every semester comes relief that we will soon be able to sleep in until noon and recover from the caffeine addiction we have developed, but it also brings the immense stress of finals week. Our picks this week will keep you sane while you prep for your finals and finish the semester strong (or rather, as strong as possible).

1. Thrive Global – Sara Gomez, Graphic Designer

“This week my newest obsession is hands-down Arianna Huffington’s new project, Thrive Global.  As stated on the website, “Thrive Global’s mission is to end the epidemic of stress and burnout by offering companies and individuals sustainable, science-based solutions to enhance both well-being and performance.” As someone who absolutely hates the idea of becoming a workaholic and burning out, I always aim to look for reading material that supports a healthy, balanced life instead of one focused solely on working and earning money. It’s time to start talking about how harmful burnout is for our physical, mental and emotional health and Thrive is doing a great job in starting that conversation. Arianna Huffington never disappoints! Thrive launched on Nov. 30 and hopefully will make its way into mainstream media pretty quickly, as it’s already featuring insightful interviews with huge names like Selena Gomez and Tony Robbins. I’m stoked!”

2. Sugar Ruby Tinted Lip Treatment by Fresh – Sasha Polissky, Public Relations and Event Planning Director

“With the cold finally starting to hit Tallahassee, I love using the Sugar Ruby Tinted Lip Treatment to keep my lips from getting dry and add a pop of color! It keeps your lips moisturized for up to six hours and has an SPF protection of 15. This lip treatment leaves a gorgeous shimmery rouge tint and smells absolutely delicious (if you are as obsessed with the smell of sugar as I am). Get it today for the perfect gift this holiday season!”

3. Milk and Honey –Trinity Lakin, Public Relations and Event Planning Director

“One of my best friends lent me her copy of Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur and I am in love. It’s the perfect collection of poems for when you need hope, assurance and healing. Sitting down with some calming music, candles and a warm cup of tea while reading these poems makes for the perfect stress reliever amid a time of such stress and frustration. The poems are so raw and honest and they really take you on a journey. Finals week is usually a rough time for everyone, so taking the time to read some amazing poetry is very cathartic and much needed.”

4. Sephora Mask Set – Taylor Zollo, Social Media Director

“For finals week I will be using this face mask set from Sephora to keep calm and de-stress. I know that after a long day of studying, I need to have something to look forward to. I’m also planning on using these as stocking stuffers for my friends! Pampering myself is the one thing that gets me through finals week.”

Trinity is a sophomore studying psychology, sociology, and religion. She is involved in HCFSU as well as Service Scholars, PeaceJam Southeast, and With Words FSU.
