Success is the Best Revenge

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Expectations: we all have them. It is completely normal to anticipate the best or the worst about upcoming events that matter to us. Still, disappointments are an inevitable part of life. They happen when things don’t go the way we wish they would.

No matter what we try to do in life to dodge the sticky, ugly situations, they happen. C’est la vie right?

What’s important to remember is that you should that use negative noise as energy to keep you on course with your goals and dreams. Don’t dwell on that bad break up that has sucked out your vibrant personality and happiness. Don’t be don’t be discouraged when you find out that the guy who you’d been crushing on is just not that into you.  Take heart when an employer thinks you’re not cut out for the job.

Refocus and Re-prioritize

Get back up and rise to the challenge. It’s not about the result; it’s about knowing where you stand and how you’re going to make it better next time. You are only hurting yourself by feeling angry, resentful, or bitter. Make the decision to step out of that black hole which is leading you nowhere and start doing things that make you feel fulfilled and happy.

It’s important to trust yourself and stop worrying. Worrying is like using an umbrella on a sunny day, waiting for the rain to come. In order to move forward you have to let that heavy baggage go and allow yourself to reach your potential.

We have always been taught that “revenge” is manipulative, deceitful, and should never be the solution to any problem that may arise. This is true for the most part; you should never bring yourself down to the same of level of a person who did you wrong. Nevertheless, this kind of revenge is different. You are transforming that dark matter created by someone or some situation into something positive and using it as motivation to succeed, because you know what you’re capable of.

As college women, we will experience many different kinds of hardships and challenges that will test our resilience. Still, as cheesy as it sounds, you will already have the upper hand if you remember that “it’s not about how hard you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.”

12 things successful people do differently:
