Six Steps for Hosting the Perfect Galentine’s Day Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Valentine’s Day is potentially the most polarizing holiday. When you’re single, it reminds you that you’re alone and makes you feel like you’ll never find love. When you’re in a relationship, it comes with the stress of choosing the right gift and knowing how serious your relationship is. Fortunately, we all have Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation to thank for popularizing February 13 as “Galentine’s Day” as a reminder that romantic relationships are not the only ones worth celebrating. This year, grab your squad, gal pals and girlfriends and plan the perfect celebration together.

1. Choose a theme.

Whether you decide on a Sunday brunch complete with a waffle bar, a Girl’s Night Out, a wine-down movie night in or a classy dinner party, picking a theme will guide the rest of your celebration.

2. Sip on something festive!

For brunch, ditch your usual mimosas and try pink mimosas instead!  If you want to keep it simple you can’t go wrong with a little rosé or bubbly.

3. Satisfy your sweet tooth.

What is Valentine’s Day if not an excuse to guiltlessly give in to your sweet tooth? Whether you have waffles, conversation hearts, cookies, or a traditional box of chocolates, your girlfriends will thank you for catering to their cravings.

Bonus points if you DIY some heart-shaped cookies.

4. Create the perfect playlist.

Less romance, more girl power. Valentine’s Day is all about sweet, slow serenades. Switch it up with some upbeat bangers that make you feel like dancing!

5. Plan activities.

You know your girls better than anyone else, so plan accordingly! For your film buff besties, line up the ultimate movie marathon complete with all your favorite chick flicks.

6. Be thankful for the strong women that support and surround you on the daily.

Remember that no romantic relationship compares to the bond you share with your friends.
