For me and a lot of other college students, summer is a season full of road trips. Whether this is a road trip vacation, a road trip home for school or a road trip over to Disney World, summer is full of driving and no one loves driving in silence. Personally, I love listening to podcasts while I drive because too much music can easily make me tired on the road. So, if you’re like me and you are on the search for a brand new podcast to keep you company on the road, I have six shows for you to try out!

Entry Level with Brooks Wheelan

Entry Level with Brooks Wheelan is a comedy podcast hosted by Brooks Wheelan, a previous writer for Saturday Night Live and current voice of Fred on Big Hero 6: The Series. Wheelan interviews different comedians about the jobs they had before they made a living doing comedy. An example of past guests he’s had is Nicole Byers, who tells tales in extreme detail of how she used to steal from Old Navy and Bobby Moynihan and discusses working in a toy store as a literal child. Wheelan himself has a hilarious history of past jobs that he dives into talking about, which includes him being a tour guide of a tourist trap cave that his manager refused to let him quit from. As a college student, hearing how far some of these comedians have come in order to live out their dreams is not only hilarious but extremely comforting.  Entry Level updates with a new show every single week!

Mouthing Off with Olivia Caridi

For those of you with no memory of who Olivia Caridi is, she was on Ben’s season of The Bachelor and pretty much everyone watching that season saw her as a villain figure. Once you’ve listened to even one episode of this podcast, you’ll be questioning if she was ever actually the bad guy or if the producers just gave her a really bad edit. Caridi brings to her show different reality TV stars from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jersey Shore, The Bachelor and Vanderpump Rules to talk about their experiences. If you love reality TV, this podcast is a must! Mouthing Off releases new episodes every Tuesday!

Oh No Ross and Carrie

Are you interested in conspiracy theories, cults, fringe science or the paranormal? If the answer is yes, this is the podcast for you! Hosts Ross Blocher and Carrie Poppy investigate these topics by joining religious groups, attending spiritual events and partaking in paranormal investigations themselves looking for scientific evidence to support their beliefs. In past investigations that are told in detail on their show, they’ve joined Scientology, Flat Earther groups, UFO groups and the Aeutherius Society. New episodes of Oh No Ross and Carrie are released every week.

DCOMedy

If you’re like me and were completely obsessed growing up with Disney Channel Original Movies (also known as DCOMs, for those not in the know), this is the perfect podcast for you. The show is hosted by siblings Luke and Emma, along with the occasional guest, who rewatch and analyze these classic movies from our childhoods and talk about how well they’ve held up in time or how ridiculous they look now watching the movies as adults. Personally, I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for them to watch Camp Rock. DCOMedy releases a new episode at the end of every month!

Popcorn with Mitchell Davis and Jack Ferry

Every time I listen to this podcast, I literally end up laughing out loud. Every episode, Mitchell Davis, Jack Ferry and a guest review a childhood favorite movie of either theirs or their guest. This sounds like a basic movie podcast, but the relationship between Davis and Ferry and the way their humor bounces off of each other is absolutely amazing and a delight to listen to. This show is full of critiques, nostalgia, humor and usually the realization of how strange the movies you used to love really are. Popcorn is a weekly podcast.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour

The Thrilling Adventure Hour is a stage show in the style of old-time radio created and written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker. This show is made up of several different segments, all of which are an absolute joy ride. The two segments that are included in every episode are “Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars,” starring the voices of Marc Evan Jackson and Nathan Fillion, and “Beyond Belief,” starring the voices of Paul F. Tompkins and Paget Brewster. “Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars” is a space western taking place a thousand years in the future and “Beyond Belief” follows a pair of high-society married mediums solving paranormal mysteries. Unfortunately, The Thrilling Adventure Hour is no longer releasing new episodes, but since the show ran from 2005 to 2015, there is a giant backlog of episodes!

All podcasts mentioned are currently available to be streamed through Apple Podcasts.
