Shows To Binge Watch Over Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

With a whole week off from classes for spring break you may be looking for new shows to start watching.  Here are some personal favorites that will have you binge watching even after the break is long over.

GREEK

Original Air Dates: 2007-2011 on ABC Family

Where you can watch it now: Netflix

For viewers who like: Glee

For those of you lucky enough to already be in love with this show, now is the time to re-watch all the seasons on Netflix. And for those of you who are new to the GREEK experience, take this opportunity to fall in love. The perfect college show, with something for everyone. Even if you aren’t apart of the Greek system you’ll find comedy, drama, romance, and, of course, college life which we all can relate to.

Freaks and Geeks

Original Air Dates:1999-2000 on NBC

Where you can watch it now: Netflix

For viewers who like: Scrubs, The Office, Arrested Development

This short-lived cult classic with now very famous stars Seth Rogen, James, Franco, Jason Segel, and countless others, was put to rest too early. While its initial run was unsuccessful, fans have given it a new life. The show only lasted two seasons, but that’s no reason for you not to watch and find out why everyone later fell in love with it.

Veronica Mars

Original Air Dates: 2004-2007 on WB and UPN

Where you can watch it now: Amazon Prime

For viewers who like: Pretty Little Liars, 90210

I introduce you to the show that successfully got me through sophomore year of college.  Sassy Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) is a high school student working with her dad, a private detective. The first season sucks you in as Veronica tries to find who murdered her best friend. You’ll watch for the mystery, but stay for Veronica’s quick wit and saucy comebacks.

*Make sure to watch all the seasons before the Veronica Mars movie premiers on March 14th*

Happy Endings

Original Air Dates: 2011-2013 on ABC

Where you can watch it now: Reruns VH1, VH1.com, and Amazon Prime

For viewers who like: New Girl, Friends

Some might say this is the FRIENDS for a new generation and I would have to agree. This brilliant comedy was taken from us too soon, and despite rumors of resurrecting it on another channel; it remains cut from ABC’s comedy line up. While it really found its groove in season two, all three seasons supply us with loveable characters and just really great comedy.

The Following

Airs: Monday nights at 10 on FOX

Catch up on: Netflix & Hulu

For viewers who like: Criminal Minds, CSI, and Dexter

This thriller is definitely not for the faint of heart. Taking the “crime drama” to a whole new level, Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon) leads the hunt to find a notorious serial killer who has gathered a dangerous cult of followers who aid in kidnapping, killing, and evading the FBI.

Call the Midwife

Airs: New season begins March 30 on PBS

Catch up on: Netflix

For viewers who like: Downton Abbey

Hopefully you have seen Downton Abbey (if not please proceed to watch immediately,) and therefore will love this period show about the midwives in 1950’s East England. Follow them as they deliver babies, make new friends, and fall in love. You have sassy nuns, innocent humor, and just an all around wonderful show.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

Airs: Thursdays at 8pm on ABC

Catch up on: Hulu

For viewers who like: Once Upon a Time

I will admit I was skeptical when the show first aired, thinking it could not compare to the original Once Upon a Time, but after binge watching all of the first season in less than a week, I was proven wrong. Blending the stories of Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin, it is cleverly written to draw you in and have you ready for season two (which just premiered March 6th!).

Hart of Dixie

Airs: Resumes season Friday March 21st on CW

Catch up on: Netflix & Hulu

For views who like: The O.C., Gilmore Girls, and Friday Night Lights

A light-hearted show that brings New York City doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) down south to small town, Bluebell, Alabama. She tries to navigate her new life around unfamiliar people and new traditions. She finds friends, love, and a new outlook on life.
