Shopkick: Making Shopping More Fun

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

For any college student, hearing the words “free gift card” and “coupon” is like music to their ears. As someone who loves to shop, I find myself shopping at either the mall or some other retail store at least once a week. However, I now find myself out shopping every other day. Sounds crazy, right? Actually, when I say “shopping,” I’m not out dropping hundreds of dollars on clothes and shoes. I’m actually using my new, favorite app: Shopkick.  With this app, users can go to stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, Express, Forever21, etc. and collect points for visiting and purchasing items at the store. For some stores, you even get points, or “kicks,” for simply walking through the door! You can also add more kicks to your account by scanning items that are listed on the app for whichever store you are in.

My favorite part of this app is the reward system. Once you reach a certain amount of kicks, you can trade them in for gift cards to certain stores such as Sephora, Coach, Forever 21, and even Tiffany & Co..When you first download the app, it gives you the option of choosing what gift card or prize you want to work towards (you can change this whenever). Some of the prizes include a Chi hair straightener, a cruise, or a pair of headphones. So far, I have received a $25 gift card to Sephora, one of my favorite stores. Nowadays when I go shopping, I always make sure to use my Shopkick app so I can rack up kicks for some more fabulous gift cards.
