Say Hello To The High Challenge Course At The Rez

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Now that the weather is finally beginning to cool down and fall is in full swing, it’s the perfect time to enjoy the great outdoors! What better way to relish in this beautiful weather than going out to the FSU Reservation and trying out the new thrilling High Challenge Course? That’s right, the enormous ropes course that made you ask, “when is it opening?!” every time you go to the Rez is FINALLY OPEN!

On October 16th, the High Challenge Course had its grand opening, offering an exclusive chance for students to try out the ropes course (along with canoeing, paddle boarding, and all other Rez activities) for free! With free music, food, drinks, and a special opportunity to be one of the first to experience the course, the grand opening proved to be an extreme success.

Not only does the FSU High Challenge Course offer an incredible experience for any thrill-seeker, but is also a perfect opportunity for team building. The High Challenge Course helps to instill crucial traits in team building that can be extremely beneficial to any group of people, such as leadership, trust, encouragement, support, communication, and of course, teamwork.  Not only does it promote team building ideas, but it also endorses the facing of your fears. Similar to any difficult or daunting event in your life, the rope course may seem to be pretty intimidating and challenging. The High Challenge Course, like many other rope courses, assists you in facing your fears and being courageous. Being able to conquer what you thought you couldn’t is extremely empowering, and can seriously improve your self-confidence and how you handle any overwhelming situation that may pop up in your life.

The FSU Campus Rec Blog wrote an eye opening post about a month ago about The High Challenge Course (also called FSU Challenge), and what exactly it offers. The post described the relationships that are formed through maneuvering and completing the many obstacles as “indescribable.” You can overcome the challenging obstacles together, and come out of the experience feeling like you all have each other’s backs. This is an amazing team building experience that is truly like no other, and can make extreme differences in the way you work with others. (You can find the blog post at http://fsucampusrec.wordpress.com/2014/09/23/towering-over-tallahassee/).

Any campus club (or large group of friends) can register together to go out to the Rez and work together in completing this challenging course. Are you still not convinced that the FSU Challenge is for you? Think of it this way; you can cross it off your college bucket list (and be able to brag to all of your friends about what an amazing pursuit you experienced while you were at school).

So what are you waiting for? Get out there, my fellow Collegiettes, and conquer the FSU High Challenge Course!

You can contact FSU Campus Rec to register for an appointment at the High Challenge Course at the following places: http://campusrec.fsu.edu/outdoors/challenge/rates or call 1-(850)–644–2430 (FSU Rez)
