November is a month that begs the question: when is too early to put up the Christmas tree? November is the start of Christmas advertising, Black Friday shopping and Thanksgiving preparations. We’re all counting down the days before we get to go home to our families and eat copious amounts of pie and turkey. Before you jump the gun on your yearly Hallmark movie binge-watch with your mom, though, it’s important to recognize the true season upon us: Sad Girl fall. This is a season that arrives yearly as the leaves change, pumpkin spice lattes are unveiled at Starbucks, Gilmore Girls finds its way onto your Netflix and Taylor Swift dominates your Spotify.

This year, your seasonal depression during Sad Girl Fall is about to get a lot more real. Taylor Swift is set to re-release her 2012 ultimate breakup album, Red (Taylor’s version), which comes out on Nov. 12. This album rerelease will destroy every fiber of your being with its 30 songs (eight more than the deluxe edition originally released). So, before observing Christmas, please note that Sad Girl Fall is about to kick into full gear.

We will also receive two versions of “All Too Well”; the first will likely be exactly like the 2012 studio original, while the second will be 10 minutes long. The longer version is what Taylor originally wrote for the song and contains lyrics never heard before, including an f-bomb that was originally too controversial at the time for Taylor’s young fanbase.

The vault tracks will feature Ed Sheeran, Phoebe Bridgers, Mark Foster and Chris Stapleton.

Additionally, you can catch Taylor Swift on Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon on Nov. 11. This is the day before the album release, so we can expect easter eggs and surprises in these interviews. On the release day of Red (Taylor’s Version), Taylor is releasing a short film for her 10-minute song “All Too Well.” According to Swift’s Instagram post, the film will be starring Sadie Sink, Dylan O’Brien and Swift herself. The film was written and directed by Taylor Swift as well.

Taylor will also be performing on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 12, where she will perform three songs. However, with all her recent album releases, we cannot know for sure which songs from what albums she will perform.

Grab a glass of red wine (or a red velvet cupcake if you’re not legal) and have an album release party with your best friends; bonus points if you drink maple lattes under colorful autumnal leaves. After all, it was Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Nashville outing to get maple lattes that inspired the lyrics from the song “All Too Well.”

If you plan on spending the release of Red (Taylor’s Version) in Tallahassee, do not fret over the lack of true autumnal weather. After all, Taylor Swift states that her album represents a heartbroken person, and you can be heartbroken regardless of location and weather.

The next turbulent two weeks will make you want to text your ex, resolve your daddy issues and call ex-friends who hurt you. If you are considering any of the above when listening to this album, please stop immediately and contact one of Florida State University’s excellent mental health resources conveniently located on campus.

Remember, you may call Taylor Swift your therapist when listening to “champagne problems,” but 11 Grammy Awards do not qualify her as a licensed mental health professional. And furthermore, do not put up your Christmas tree until you have fully processed this album, as being happy when you haven’t fully processed being sad will give you mental-emotional whiplash.
