We’re officially in that awkward transition into the fall season. The only guarantee on Florida’s fall weather is that it’s unpredictable, especially with these cooler temperatures that we’ve been experiencing lately. On one hand, I have no idea what to wear every day. Yet, I find it exciting to piece together different outfits that suit the weather.

As we say goodbye to summer and prepare for fall, our closet might need a little bit of adjusting. If you’re anything like me, comfort is a priority for any outfit I decide to wear. I don’t like sitting in a lengthy lecture while wearing an uncomfortable outfit, but I also don’t want to look like I’ve just rolled out of bed. Luckily, fall weather allows us to look comfy and cute at the same time. This fall, I’m looking forward to rocking these comfy yet chic statement pieces.

A faux fur bucket hat

Morning lecture weather is NO joke. Wearing a faux fur bucket hat will keep your head cozy and add pizzazz to any outfit. However, that coziness doesn’t feel great beneath the afternoon sun in the middle of Landis Green. The noncommittal nature of a bucket hat allows you to stay warm in the morning and ditch your hat when the temperature rises. I’ve been loving this cheetah print bucket hat from Amazon, but you can find them pretty much anywhere.

Puffer jackets

Back in elementary school, it was nearly impossible to convince me to wear my puffer jacket to school. Something about them did not sit right with seven-year-old Ashley, but times have changed for the better. If you ask me, puffer jackets are an absolute must for the fall season. Whether it’s cropped or full length, they can take any outfit to the next level. Available in different colors and patterns, you can certainly find the perfect puffer for you! If you’re a Target lover like me, check out this super cute puffer jacket from Wild Fable.

loafers

Live out your dark academia daydream with a pair of loafers! I think platform loafers are super chic and easy to walk in. Loafers are unique and pair well with pretty much any outfit. On an extra cool morning, you can layer with some wool socks to add texture to your look. Whether you style them with your favorite mom jeans or a mini skirt, loafers are a must for the fall season. Any practical shoe that won’t wreak havoc on my feet is a win in my book.

Cable-knit sweaters

As a Chris Evans in Knives Out stan, I’m biased on my love for cable-knit sweaters, but we all need one of these in our closet. You can wear them to class, a fun dinner with friends or anywhere your heart desires. There’s no wrong way to style this statement piece. Cable knit sweaters are definitely worth the hype. If I were your stylist, I would recommend an oversized cable-knit sweater that can be paired with some cozy leggings or tucked into your favorite pair of jeans. This beaded cable-knit sweater from H&M is both elegant and affordable.

sherpa jackets

Emma Chamberlain’s influence on 2016 fall fashion still impacts me to this very day. I kid you not, I still have my Sherpa jacket in my closet that I’m waiting to break out. I’m all about bringing trends back, so I’m determined to bring the teddy-bear jacket back into the spotlight. Putting on an oversized Sherpa jacket is always like a warm hug, so it’s the perfect item for this list. Again, layering clothes in Florida is a must because the mid-afternoon sun will creep up on you. Still, the Sherpa jacket will keep you both snuggly and cute for those early mornings or chilly nights.
